The Shelby Cobra took the sports car world by storm when it was introduced in 1962. Shelby American took the AC Ace chassis, inserted a small block Ford engine and re-engineered the car to handle the additional power. On the track, the Cobra defeated sports cars from Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, and others. Fact is, CSX2000 is the first Shelby Cobra ever built and quite possibly the most valuable American sports car in the world today.
Carroll Shelby announced the introduction of the CSX 8000 cars on January 22, 2011 and all cars were committed to and sold within 48 hours.
The design of the Shelby Cobra 50th Anniversary is derived from the original 1962 styling, with only a few factory options and improvements over and above the original product. Among the improvements are a stronger steel tube frame, better alloys for the components, improved cooling, additional heatshield, superior brakes, plus rack-and-pinion steering. The bodies are available in either aluminum or fiberglass.
All 50 cars were offered only in Black with Rosso red leather covered seating surfaces, dash covering and map pockets. The carpets are made of Wilton Wool.
Shelby honors this icon with a 50th Anniversary Limited Edition CSX8000-series Cobra. Only 50 vehicles will be produced. Exclusive CSX serial numbers have been reserved, from 8950 though 8999. Come into the beautiful world of Shelby.
