It is no secret that I am constantly on the look out for lip products as my lips are the driest one can get in ‘central heating’ ‘freezing’ winter. It doesn’t help that I have a bad habit of biting my lips too. As a result, I have a lip routine going on that consist of exfoliating, regular lip mask and lip products dedicated for both day and night.
A (long) while back, I’ve heard some good reviews of Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm so thought I should give it a go. For years(!) I used Guerlain Baume de La Ferté…. a true holy grail! Sold in a more ‘manly’ tube. And sometimes La Mer The Lip Balm, like Dior also in a little jar).
Creme De Rose lip balm comes heavily rose scented and it did bother me the first few times using this but after awhile I kinda got used to it, besides the scent only lingered for a short while and it stopped bothering me within few minutes of application.

Texture wise, it is very creamy to apply and feels quite lightweight on my lips despite containing shea butter, rose essential oil, emollients and vitamin A and E to keep lips smooth, soft, hydrated and nourished.
Even though it looks pink in the pot, it applies clear on lips making it perfect for both day and night application. I did find that the closest lip product that this makes my lips feel is the Guerlain Baume de La Ferté (yes!) and La Mer The Lip Balm, except that it is a bit more minty and has more slip on the lips and this is more creamier with a matte finish.
For the package: I love the more ‘manly’ (sorry) and handy tube above the little jar. But after the Guerlain Baume de La Ferté this is definitely now my second preferred ‘day’ lip balm product and due to its soothing base, it makes lipstick application a breeze too. In addition, it is considerably more affordable than La Mer, so win win for me!
