Remember the Time! If you were a teenage girl in the 2000s, you probably scrimped and saved (or begged your parents) to get the iconic Lancôme Juicy Tubes Lip Glosses.
After all, super-shiny lip glosses in all colours of the rainbow were one of the defining beauty trends of the decade, in a time when matte lips weren’t even an idea yet. So we collected as many Juicy Tubes as our teenage selves could afford and wore the shiny and sometimes glittery fruit-flavoured lip colours with pride, with the knowledge that we had just gained entry into the world of grown-up makeup.
Some of Lancôme’s iconic Juicy Tubes……
That’s why this upcoming release from Lancôme has gotten us almost teary-eyed with nostalgia. The all-new Lancôme Juicy Shakers make us think back to a time of Paris Hilton and Von Dutch trucker caps, but with some pretty major updates to make them relevant today. As its name and the packaging design implies, yes, this works like a drinks shaker where you shake the bottle to mix the oil and colour pigments together, creating a concoction of satiny colour that goes on nice and sheer.
…..and Lancôme’s new Juicy Shaker
Apparently, Lancôme has also looked even further back in time for inspiration when creating these Juicy Shakers. Brand founder Armand Petitjean created a cocktail-inspired lipstick way back in 1946, in celebration of the popularity of cocktails as glamorous symbols at that time. Since we can safely say cocktails haven’t gone out of fashion 70 years later, it’s a smart move by Lancôme, making drinks-inspired makeup a thing again.

To apply, just unscrew the bottle to reveal a pointed cushion applicator, which resembles a marker felt tip, designed to be super-soft on the lips and to easily navigate your lip contours, with no danger of applying too much product. This time round, there’s also a new, decidedly un-fruity shade: Mint To Be, which appears as a light turquoise in the tube, but goes on as a transparent blue to enhance the lips’ natural pinkish colouring.
With 20 shades in total, each one carrying a different fruity scent just like the original Lancome Juicy Tubes, this just reawakens our teenage need to collect them all. A new classic is born!
