The voyager is always curious, and so, they travel. Maison Louis Vuitton knows this well, and since its founding, follows a guided passion to unravel this curiosity across new innovations, and accompany the wandering nomad in their journeys.
Travel, as one might come to know, is not merely a destination, but rather a feeling; and as one discovers new experiences, one is suddenly enlightened. It’s a nourishment of your soul, mind and physical being, and a collection of memories and experiences that you will forever have.
The first Louis Vuitton fragrance in over 70 years will launch this September, the iconic fashion house has revealed. Although the scent, bottle and specific launch details are still very much under wraps, a few clues hint at the finished product on the French luxury brand’s website. It will be a first for the house since it started producing ready-to-wear collections in 1998 under Marc Jacobs’s creative direction, which catapulted the house into the fashion behemoth that it is today.
Nicolas Ghesquière, who helms the label today, is no stranger to launching fragrances having released fragrances during his tenure at Balenciaga. Jacobs’s line of both men’s and women’s fragrances for his eponymous label equates to an impressive roll call. Speaking of the new Louis Vuitton fragrance (more possibly fragrances given they have been christened Les Parfums de Louis Vuitton) the brand said:
Since its founding, the Maison Louis Vuitton has always been inspired by far flung destinations and driven to accompany voyagers wherever they travel.
Giving no further information as to what the scents will entail, master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud – who has also created scents for McQueen, Tom Ford and YSL’s M7 with Mizensir’s Alberto Morillas – spent months travelling the world in search of inspiration. Breathing the fragrance of exotic places and rare materials, he created Les Parfums Louis Vuitton: a journey of emotions. Taking cues from his native Grasse, the birthplace of both perfume and leather craftsmanship, the imagery used to announce the latest string to Louis Vuitton’s bow hints at floral, leather and citrus notes.
We now live vicariously through the Maison, who crafted this finesse we’ve come to know as Louis Vuitton womens’ perfume. The Maison posed an excellent muse for Belletrud, who took his visits to Louis Vuitton’s various workshops as the beginnings for his invention of the Louis Vuitton leather in a fascinating made-to-measure infusion.
Belletrud took in a lot of leather aromas, but none stood out for him as much as natural leather, whose scent he found gentle, and whose softness and quality reminded him of the first time he discovered leather. Its light beige quality, he noticed, was often used to cover the straps and handles of the Louis Vuitton handbags and trunks. It will also contain aromas of flowers like May rose, Chinese osmanthus, magnolia and Arabian jasmine Sambac are obtained through the process of CO2 extraction.
It’s as simple as one would think – the way an adventure begins simply with a thoughtful inhaling of scents. Begin your journey this September, when the Les Parfums Louis Vuitton comes to your favorite Louis Vuitton boutique
