Plastic Surgery Rumors About Dolly Parton Underscore the Highly Individual Nature of Procedures, says Dr. J Plastic Surgery

An October 20 article on Gossip Cop looks at published rumors that beloved singer-songwriter Dolly Parton is in the process of gifting herself with $2 million worth of procedures and other beauty work to celebrate her 75th birthday. While the country music legend has long been unusually straightforward about her many procedures and has often joked about them, the article stresses that how much – if any – truth is behind the reports is not known. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Payam Jarrah-Nejad, M.D., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., known to his patients as Dr. J, says that whatever procedures celebrities are getting or not getting, the decision about whether or not to have work done at any age is a highly personal matter that will be different for every prospective patient.

Dr. J notes that Dolly Parton’s good friend, Oscar winner Jane Fonda, has told the press that, at age 74 and after a fairly large number of procedures, she has decided that her plastic surgery days are behind her. He says, however, that the number of older people who may be getting their first-ever procedures continues to increase. He adds that, while a relatively young person in the performing arts may be incentivized to get procedures to add to their beauty or to correct the earliest signs of aging, people whose appearance is less tied to their livelihoods may feel most motivated to get a procedure when the person they look at in the mirror seems a great deal older than the way they feel.

Dr. J notes that he has performed many different types of facial rejuvenation and other procedures on people in their later years and the results are typically outstanding. Of course, as we age more health issues tend to arise, so it’s especially important to thoroughly explore an older patient’s medical history to ensure that a procedure will be safe while providing good results. Dr. J says that whether patients are interested in obtaining a surgical facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), or other procedures, it’s of critical importance that they have a clear and realistic idea of the most likely outcomes. Dr. J adds that he prides himself on his ability to relate to patients and explain their procedures in a way they can understand so that patients of all ages can make a truly informed decision.
