Bvlgari returns to its Greek roots with a new Athens Boutique. A little-known fact, the Roman jeweler actually has roots in Greece. And, this year, the Italian Maison unveils its new, two-level boutique at 20 Voukourestiou Street, Athens.
Bvlgari founder Sotirios Bvlgari (1857) was born in the Epirus village of Paramythia, the largest Vlachophone center for silversmithing in the Balkans. In 1881 Sotirios Bvlgari moved to Rome and in 1884 he opened his first shop at 85 Via Sistina.
In 1905, his grandson opened the Via Condotti boutique that would become the flagship of the family business. In the early years, Bvlgari was known for his special silver pieces that borrowed elements from Byzantine and Islamic art and combined them with floral designs. These are still available in the boutiques to this day. The iconic jewelery and watches now dominate the jeweler’s range.
In the 1970s, Bvlgari boutiques opened in Paris, Monte Carlo, Geneva and New York. More boutiques have been opened worldwide in the following decades. Now Bvlgari returns to its Greek roots with a new boutique in Athens.
This year, the Italian Maison unveils its new two-storey boutique at 20 Voukourestiou Street, Athens. The interior represents a carefully curated mix of shared cultural origins. As you tour the new temple, see Roman classicism merging with Mediterranean heritage.
Spectacular marbles from Pavonazzetto to Breccia di Seravezza meet expertly crafted walnut woods and immaculate brass details – with iconic Bvlgari creations displayed beneath a large chandelier.
