Chaumet, not only for queens

French Maison Chaumet has released updates to its Joséphine High Jewellery collection, and the new designs are a celebration of one of the favourite gemstone cuts of the French Maison’s most famous patron – the pear.

Elegant and eternally modern, this 15th century gemstone cut is the star of a new jewellery collection from the French Maison

Empress Joséphine Bonepart, wife of Emperor Napoléon Bonepart, was one of Chaumet’s earliest clients, and more than a century later the house continues to pay its respects. Many of Chaumet’s jewels take inspiration from the Empress, who was famed for her flamboyance.

Inspired by Empress Joséphine’s sovereign allure, the French Maison unveils new timelessly elegant Joséphine High jewellery creations. True masterpieces of refinement and delicacy that pay a dazzling tribute to the Maison’s bicentenary jewellery virtuosity and exceptional heritage.

The pear cut, with a shapely curve at one end that leads up to a sharp point, has long been a favourite amongst gem cutters. The first pear-cut diamond is said to have originated in Flanders in the mid 15th century. A diamond pioneer named Lodewyk van Bercken is credited with its invention; he is also the man who invented the diamond polishing wheel, which transformed the look of diamonds forever.

The asymmetrical pear-shaped diamond is loved for its elegance. When worn in a ring with the narrow tip of the diamond pointing to the end of the finger, a well-proportioned pear can create the illusion of elongating the finger.

In its latest homage to Joséphine, Chaumet has updated its diamond jewellery collection of the same name with designs that celebrate the pear shape, which was said to be one of the Empress’s favourite cuts.

This year’s additions to Chaumet Joséphine celebrate the pear in all forms. Across the collection, you will find pear-shaped diamond nestled into gold and diamond pavé V formations, dripping from ear climbers, and adding sparkle to hairlines in delicate tiaras. Pear-cut aquamarine and blue sapphire add colour to the collection, which is otherwise dominated by white diamonds and white gold.

Chaumet has also played with the shape of the pear cut as a motif, using it as a frame for small round brilliant diamonds to create jewels with more accessible price tags than would be possible for the same styles using large pear cuts of diamond.

The collection also includes watches. These, too, play on the pear shape, with elegant dials that follow the formation of the cut. Available in 18k white ans yellow gold, some have fully diamond pavé-set dials, others have faceted sapphire glass to give the impression of a pear-cut diamond with a small pear-shaped diamond set at 12 o’clock.

In a slick digital presentation of Chaumet Joséphine, which allows you to virtually stroll around the lavish rooms of the brand’s Place Vendome store, the jeweller describes the Empress’s personality as “graceful” and “eternally modern”, and half a millennia on from its invention, much the same can be said for the pear cut.

Taylor & Hart Turn the Haribo Candy Into An Actual Cabochon Diamond Ruby Ring

They say you should always embrace your inner child. So we figure, why not make your childhood dreams come true? Especially when it involves diamonds, sapphires, and gold.

Since they arrived on the scene in the early 90’s, jelly rings have been synonymous with childhood crushes and playtime proposals. At some point we all had someone down on one knee in the school yard asking for our hand with one of these sugary sweets.

British jeweler Taylor & Hart has just created a stunning ring based on Haribo’s Friendship Ring candy. Recalling childhood memories when kids would ‘propose’ to their crush on the playground during recess, this ring is all grown up with a 2.70ct cabochon yellow sapphire set in a 18ct yellow gold basket of 40 fancy-intense yellow diamonds, and 224 custom cut rubies totalling a weight of 3.60ct are invisible set into the 18ct rose gold band.

To make this beauty the ultimate throwback, we’re paying homage to the most luxurious of all gummies: the red and yellow jelly ring. We hope this duo-colour palette brings you back to simpler times. When fun brought love to life and the only thing that could keep you away from your love was having to run home for tea before the street lights came on.

Taylor & Hart

Taylor & Hart always go all the way for love. With this design, they are capturing the pure magic of falling head over heels for the first time. Because no matter how old you are, your special day should be filled with the same thrill you felt with your first crush.

A funny fact: priced at £25,000, we even estimate that you could purchase over 1,250,000 of the 2p jelly sweets for the same value of this ring!

Tiffany & Co launched its #TiffanyT1 collection earlier this year to much success, but fans were left wondering if there were ever going to be pieces that came in classic metals like white or yellow gold. Well, the good news is that the American luxury jeweller has finally unveiled all-new pieces, specifically bracelets and rings.

Designed by Reed Krakoff, the brand’s Chief Artistic Officer, the jewellery is known for its simple and minimalistic style, expounding on the iconic ‘T’ motif that forms a perfectly round circle to represent individual strength and self-empowerment.

The collection comprises pieces that come in full 18K gold, but Tiffany & Co. has also included versions decked out in precious diamonds, perfect for ladies (and men!) who love T…..

The rings will come in two models, the Tiffany T1 Narrow Ring and Tiffany T1 Wide Ring. As for the bracelets, they will come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large for the Tiffany T1 Narrow Hinged Bangle and Tiffany T1 Wide Hinged Bangle.
