Hero, created cooperatively by several perfumers from all around the world, was born from the idea to create an olfactive tribute to caregivers, who are still fighting COVID-19 in many countries.

With the aim to say “thank you” to medical staff everywhere, who tirelessly have been taking care of the many patients since the beginning of the COVID 19 epidemic, seventeen Symrise fine fragrance perfumers from around the globe participated in this project to recognize and thank all the first responders who make lives better during this difficult time.

Each perfumer added one renewable raw material to the fragrance to create the Hero, a unisex Eau de Cologne. Maurice Roucel (Tangerine from Madagascar), Annick Menardo (Bergamot), Wei Ling Png (Vanillin), Marine Ipert (Ambroxide), Alexandra Carlin (Ambretolide), Pierre-Constantin Guéros (Ginger from Madagascar), Lowiah Xin Hang (Ginger from Madagascar), Alienor Massenet (Gaïac wood), Patricia Bilodeau (Globalide), Fanny Grau (Sandalwood), Philippe Paparella (Benzoin), Leslie Gauthier (Lemon), Isaac Sinclair (Ambrostar), Émilie Copperman (Ambrette seed), Stéphane Bengana (Vétiver from Madagascar), Nathalie Benareau (Iso E Super), Christelle Laprade, Carlos Vinals, and David Appel (Cypress, Iris & Rose), borrowing their attributes from the traditional Eau de Cologne structure.

We believe in the power of perfume to touch our senses, our soul and the world. This is why we have developed a fragrance for all heroes who, through their tireless and continuous efforts, are helping to fight the coronavirus crisis. Hero is our way of thanking them for the work they do.

Hero was created for both men and women. It interweaves ingredients from traditional Eau de Cologne and brings in contemporary notes like Ambrostar, a Symrise captive, musk and vanilla. The result presents an invigorating and supportive fragrance that combines energy and comfort. The top note exudes a composition of Mandarin from Madagascar, bergamot with a boost of peppermint and ginger. The heart contains warm notes of ambrette seeds, orris and rose. The base note gives the fragrance fullness and modernity with guaiac wood, sandalwood, vetiver from Madagascar, cypress and renewable vanillin.

The choice of a Cologne is not trivial, since it was originally used in the 18th century as a miracle remedy and hygiene product, before becoming ‘trendy’ at the Court of Kings. “By complementing the essential products of daily life, perfumes improve our quality of life. In the current situation, we want to please [Caregivers -ed] and show them our greatest gratitude for all their daily efforts”, explained Ricardo Omori.

Hero has been distributed by Symrise since May 19, to these everyday heroes to whom we owe so much, located in France, the United States, China, Singapore, Brazil and Dubai. The Symrise group wanted to express their gratitude by providing “a dose of well-being and comfort”.

Symrise Hero will also be available for purchase online through AuParfum at a price of 69 Euro including tax, and 100% of the revenue will be donated to the SOS Anosmie association.

 

 

 

 

Calvin Klein Women

It’s been 13 years since Calvin Klein – who created still-recognizable zeitgeist scents like Obsession and Eternity – has released a new fragrance. But now under the helm of chief creative officer Raf Simons, the fashion house is returning to creating iconic scents with the July launch of a new scent, simply called Women. Simons joined Calvin Klein in August 2016 and famously thanked ‘women’ when accepting his Womenswear Designer of the Year honor – his second in two years – at June’s CFDA Awards. Now, he’s making a new mark on the label, collaborating on his first fragrance.

Immediately when I arrived, I looked closely at the various fragrances in the portfolio because it was important for me to continue the stories they captured, which were all iconic and meaningful moments. It became clear very early on that we should create a new fragrance and a new chapter to the story.

To do so, Simons asked perfumers Honorine Blanc and Annick Menardo. They combined Eucalyptus acorns, Alaskan cedarwood and orange blossom to create a ‘woody floral with notes of orange flower and lemon pepper’. It’s an easy, soft, and citrusy/fresh spicy perfume. Calvin Klein Women is a sophisticated scent that has a modern and youthful aroma. This new perfume is created for women who love to look real, to be happy, to have pure emotions and sensations.

To promote the new scent, Simons recruited very talented women; Academy Award-winning actor Lupita Nyong’o and three-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan are the faces of Calvin Klein Women’s campaign, photographed by visual artist Anne Collier, who also co-created the packaging with perfume bottle designer Suzanne Dalton (Collier’s photograph of a woman’s eye is superimposed on the disc-like cap).

Created by Oliver Cresp, Nathalie Lorson and Annick Merando, Dance with Repetto is a delicious and contemporary fragrance that opens with a play on textures and contrasts, between the crunch of a Raspberry Macaron and the delicate floral freshness of Magnolia and Freesia. At the heart of the perfume, Jasmine Petals bind the powdery smoothess of Heliotrope to the voluptuousness of Peony. Finally, the warm almond notes of Tonka Bean are enveloped by the caramelised sweetness of sensual Vanilla and Patchouli.

The bottle gracefully evokes the slender figure of a dancer. The finely engraved glass seems to ripple in the light.

WILD BY DSQUARED2

Dsquared2 Wild Silvester Ruck

The Dsquared2 WILD 2014 campaign showcases the fragrance in an exceptionally angular manner. Model Silvester Ruck is at the center of the advertisements that feature little apparel aside from a low riding pair of unbuttoned jeans.

In spite of the lack of accessories and embellishments present in these Dsquared2 images, photographer Steven Klein made the production appear incredibly intense. Dark purple shading was used to embellish snapshots of thick angular lines, each one criss crossing directly above Ruck’s body.

Dsquared2 Wild, described as a fragrance for the contemporary and self-sufficient man, is an evolution of Dsquared2’s olfactory journey inspired by and founded in the elements of nature. Building on a pathway forged by debut scent He Wood and follow up Potion, Wild is a fragrance chapter for Dsquared2 that explores man’s desires and his connection to the natural and urban world that surrounds him. This enigmatic and covetable concept is also at the heart of Dsquared2’s DNA: the freedom for a man to express his sensuality and his deepest desires. Wild materializes Dsquared2’s passion for the avant-garde and unorthodox approach to fashion.

Yves Rocher will launch Rose Oud, a new fragrance in their Secrets D’Essences line, in January. The first rose in the collection, Rose Absolu, is now, sadly, discontinued, but others in the series include: Neroli, Tendre Jasmin (my two favorites) Vanille Noire and Voile d’Ambre. One by one, wonderful scents!

Rose Oud was developed by perfumer Annick Menardo. She made some beautiful creations before… and with notes of Rose, Oud, Cumin and Labdanum, Rose Oud will be something special!

Yves Rocher Rose Oud will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

The new masculine fragrance is said to be ‘the scent of seduction’ and is advertized by wonderful models – mister seduction – Diego Miguel and Malgosia Bela. After the successful DSquared2 He Wood fragrance, which is a woody and powerful perfume, DSquared2 launches Potion a lighter classical and elegant scent that will make any woman heady.

Created by perfumer Annick Menardo, Potion blends seductive aromatic woody notes of mint, angelica, thyme, gentian, cinnamon, cashmere wood, patchouli, amber and musk. Men will be fond of its powerful yet pleasant smell that will always draw women’s attention.
