Tom Ford Métallique was created by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu. One of the ingredients which defines perfume of the mid-20^th century is aldehydes. From their appearance in Chanel No. 5 they were prevalent in many of the great floral perfumes which followed. It was so entwined with that era in perfume it also came to represent it. It also is the one ingredient which elicits the damning reaction, “….that perfume is for someone older than me”. It is the keynote of the dreaded descriptor ‘old lady perfume’. This has kept it from being used very often in new perfumes. Tom Ford Metallique is going to try to change that.

Like an armored embroidered dress, the metallic sheath of lighter-than-air aldehydes opens the scent like a second skin. The collision of crisp vert de bergamote and pink peppercorn further steel the insatiability of the first impression. The floral heart is amplified by juxtaposing delicate white blossoms of aubepine and muguet with the narcotic-like nectar of heliotrope. An aura of ambrette seed imparts warmth with woody inflections of peru balsam. The soft scent of vanilla and creamy sandalwood layer an addictive, contrasting finish that further drives the metallic suiting of the open.

The addictive aldehyde start envelopes a much more sensual core of delicately layered white flowers, creating a contrast that shifts from cool to lush. Aubepine, an ancestor of the rose that’s more complex and piquant, blends with sweet muguet and intoxicating nectar of heliotrope that’s both light and powdery and powerfully rich. The closing notes bring a layer of warmth — which is ideal for a scent that’ll take you into crisp fall — thanks to ambrette seed, balsam, vanilla, and creamy sandalwood. The Italian label is paying tribute to Venetian glassmakers with the introduction of its 2015 Deluxe Fragrance collection.

Bottega Veneta’s two iconic fragrances,its first signature perfume and the Knot Eau de Parfum, are presented in a luxurious collection and enclosed in an artisanal bottle.

The luxury collection includes an artisanal edition of the perfume bottles, decorated with the intrecciato motif so loved by Bottega Veneta and the emblematic butterfly symbol. Designed with a detachable spray nozzle, the handcrafted bottles are easy to refill.

In addition to the fragrances, the handcrafted frosted glass has been designed for two scented candles in the same aromas to complete the collection.

Bottega Veneta Candle Deluxe Craftmanship edition 2015

The first signature scent of the Italian house is inspired by Veneto and various leather goods collections by Bottega Veneta, a fragrance with notes of leather, floral chypre and prune accords.

The Knot fragrance was created by Daniela Andrier, who also created last year’s Pour Homme scent for the brand with Antoine Maisondieu. It opens with mandarin, orange blossom and neroli, over a floral heart of rose and peony. The drydown arrives with pairing of musk and tonka bean.

The Bottega Veneta Deluxe Fragrance Collection 2015 is available in the brand’s boutiques and select department stores.

Prices: €68 for the candle, €90 for the Deluxe Signature craftmanship bottle of 50 ml and €115 for the 100 ml refill.

Boucheron’s Quatre gets reimagined as a scintillating fragrance

 

 

A new Boucheron fragrance is aways very exiting! Introducing the new Boucheron Quatre fragrance for Woman, a modern and daring olfactory interpretation of the French Maison’s iconic ring. Tom Ford to launch new fragrance: Velvet Orchid

Fashion designer Tom Ford will bring out his new fragrance Velvet Orchid this year, the brain child of a creative team that consisted of no less than five persons including Ford himself – working with expert perfumers Yann Vasnier, Calice Becker, Shyamala Maisondieu and Antoine Maisondieu from the fragrance company Givaudan.

Velvet Orchid retains Black Orchid’s instantly recognisable elements: a fresh, lush petal facet; animalic notes and skin-lacquering warmth, and re-imagines these elements into a fragrance with a uniquely compelling nature.

Tom Ford Velvet Orchid opens itself with bergamot, mandarin, Succan absolute (purified rum extract) and honey. At the core of this creation (made of ‘corporeal floral notes’). is Tom Ford’s distinctive, ‘timeless’ signature – an imaginary accord of black orchid blended with notes of velvet orchid, which gives the perfume its name, with intense Turkish rose oil and jasmine and a new accord of purple orchid that grows in the wilds of southern Brazilian coast. There are also additional floral notes of orange blossom, rose absolute, narcissus, hyacinth and heliotrope. The base is warm due to the rich flavors of Peru balsam, myrrh, labdanum, sandalwood, suede and vanilla.

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani launches a new masculine fragrance, Armani Code Ultimate. Armani Code Ultimate is the new flanker to Armani Code launched in 2004. This fragrance emanates a more stronger and intense aroma yet with more provocative and more sensual notes. Code Ultimate will delight both men and women with its nice smell that will contstantly grab attention.

Created by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu of Givaudan, Armani Code Ultimate is an energetic and arrogant smell. It blends cocktail of grapefruit, mandarin and star anise along with cedar, cypress and olive blossom. The base is composed of guaiac wood, tonka bean and vanilla.
