Versace New Fragrance Dylan Blue with Bruce Weber Lensed Campaign

Versace Pour Homme Dylan Blue

Italian fashion house Versace reunites with photographer Bruce Weber for the premier campaign of its new men’s fragrance, Dylan Blue. The advertisement takes on a timeless and rebellious cool with protagonist, Trevor Signorino. Sporting a leather biker jacket, black skinny jeans and a tank, the model is front and center in a black & white image. Gigi Hadid also joins Trevor for the campaign.

Instinct and passion, love and desire, coupled with hope and complicity, are the words which best define this powerful new fragrance for men from Versace. A fougere, woody, aromatic fragrance.

  • Top Notes: bergamot, grapefruit, aquatic notes, fig leaves
  • Middle Notes: violet leaves, black pepper, papyrus wood, patchouli bio
  • Base Notes: mineral musk, tonka bean, saffron

Versace Pour Home Eau de Toilette

As a fragrance, Dylan Blue boasts a woody aroma with hints of citrus, bergamot, grapefruit and fig leaf. Easily described as Mediterranean with aquatic notes, the new scent also features violet leaves, black pepper, saffron, and papyrus.

Dylan Blue is the essence of the Versace man today. It’s a fragrance full of character and individuality, an expression of a man’s strength and also his charisma. I love how it takes traditional notes and scents and makes them totally modern, totally fresh for today, and tomorrow.

Talking about the art direction of the advertisement, Weber shares, “I’ve been watching lots of movies lately where the actors are mixed martial arts fighters. It seems like they are always proving themselves, so that the women characters will fall in love with them. I thought it would be interesting to do some photographs and make a film that dealt with this kind of relationship”.

Discussing the emotional aspect, Weber continues, “Many women I know really respect the sensitivity and vulnerability of men. I wanted to show that men can have these qualities while remaining very strong and disciplined, like great athletes, and still fall in love with the girl of their dreams. For me, Versace has always represented this kind of driving passion. That’s why I’ve always loved working with them, they give photographers and filmmakers like me the freedom to imagine a big life”.

Calvin Klein Underwear Celebrates 30 Years

Tom Hinthaus photographed by Bruce Weber for Calvin Klein in 1982. He was 24 years old in that time.

Millions of people ogled him wearing just Calvin Klein skivvies in a famous, nay iconic, 1983 GQ magazine spread, not to mention the giant billboard in Times Square!.

Calvin Klein Underwear Celebrates 30 Years: Where it all started. Olympian Tom Hintnaus was the first to appear in a Calvin Klein Underwear ad in 1982. Photographed by Bruce Weber (Click photo to enlarge).

Hintnaus, who now lives in Hawai’i Kai, he still occasionally models, but these days his day job is building docks, which means he can be on the water all day. Hintnaus, an Olympic pole-vaulter who still competes, has the genes to back it up. His mother and late father, both from the Czech Republic, were athletes; his father coached Cathy Rigby through her Olympic years

Hintnaus never took the modeling as seriously as he did the athletics. His brow furrowed as he talked about the appearance money that he’d earn, in cash, and under the table, to keep his amateur status to make the Olympics.

The modeling started his third year in college, when he’d gone home to California for the summer and remembered the card a manager had given him. His parents were skeptical: They’d been caught once before in a scheme in which a modeling agent tried to milk them for money. Imagine their surprise when the manager told them that not only would he not charge them, but later got their son signed to Los Angeles’ biggest name in modeling, the Nina Blanchard Agency.

The young Hintnaus did runway shows, commercials and print ads, yes, in those infamous undies. “I worked so hard at being the best pole-vaulter in the world, and I ended up being more well-known for putting on a pair of briefs,” he told The Los Angeles Times.

Glad he did! So… stil, afer all those years we could still enjoy. Like it was yesterday. And that he (Bruce Weber) has paved the way for many others…

Simon Nessman in Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gio Essenza short film by Bruce Weber

Simon Nessman for Acqua di Giò by Bruce WeberGIF2.gif

In April we saw beautiful top Canadian model Simon Nessman’s print & video campaign for Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Giò Essenza fragrance. Recently a exclusive short film also shot by renowned fashion photographer Bruce Weber premiered…..

Athletic model Simon Nessman rises from the wild surf in Bruce Weber’s short for Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Giò Essenza. Revisiting his classic Acqua di Giò fragrance from 1996, Armani sought to produce a new, more intense remix of the original scent inspired by the Mediterranean island that has since become his home, Pantelleria. The largest of Sicily’s satellites, the ‘Black Pearl of the Mediterranean’ bathes in the scorching heat of nearby Africa carried by the sirocco winds across its plains of dark basalt rock and simple white-domed dwellings, or ‘dammusi.

The idea was to capture, in my own way, that Mediterranean feel’. The connection to water, the sea, and bodily freedom on a beach.

Bruce Weber

Over the years, writers such as Gabriel García Márquez, Truman Capote and Aldous Huxley have been lured by the island’s rare sense of solitude and its untrammeled landscape. Synonymous with the chiseled male beauties in his iconic images for the likes of Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Pirelli, Weber drew inspiration from the island’s serenity for his black and white film.

Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Essenza is more about woody notes rather than aquatic and has a pleasant intense aroma. The nose behind it is again perfumer Alberto Morillas – the designer and perfumer created also the original fragrance. Acqua di Gio Essenza Fragrance opens to delight with tones of cascalone molecule, bergamot and grapefruit notes. The floral heart is composed of accords of jasmine, basil, floral paradisone molecule and sage. The drydown of patchouli, cedar, vetiver, ambrox, ambergris, pepper and clary sage won’t leave a man unnoticed. Even though it is less freshly, still it has the point to charm and delight.
