Bulgari Presents its First High Perfumery Collection for Men

the-bvlgari-le-gemme-mens-collection

Haute Joallier Bulgari presents the new ‘Le Gemme’ collection dedicated to men. A new revolutionary chapter in the story of the Roman jeweller. It was written in the DNA of the master of coloured gemstones that Bulgari would one day travel the roads of the world to seek, in order to reveal them, the secret correspondences between gemstones and fragrances. And thus in 2014 the first ‘Le Gemme’ collection for women appeared, an olfactory tribute to six precious stones that are emblematic of the Roman jeweller.

Echoing these precious Eaux de Parfum this new high perfumery collection dedicated to men revisits an entire aspect of ancient history following the precious stones and perfume roads that the great conquerors and luxury nomads of Antiquity discovered during their travels and their conquests. This twin voyage through the worlds of gemstones and scent recreates a legendary world of adventures along famous roads and across fabled regions from the mediterranean Basin to the Far East. With ‘Le Gemme’ collection dedicated to  men, Bulgari draws a very contemporary and new map of masculinity of which 21st century man is the heir.

cms_block_image_4616_v_1

Bulgari entrusted Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier with the task of transcribing the six gemstones of the collection in a radical palette. Like an olfactory ‘big- bang’, this new collection shakes up the codes of luxury perfumes for men. In the same way as stone cutters reveal the beauty of gemstones with their skill, Jacques Cavallier has worked exceptional raw materials to the limits of the possible so as to exalt their richness or reveal them in a new, unexpected register.

Between sacred and secular, wild and civilised, singularity and otherness, ‘Le Gemme’ collection for men reflects the pluralist personality of contemporary man. A combination of undisputed strength and magnetic character that since the dawn of time has never left the hear ts of powerful men in and around the Mediterranean, men that are both conquerors and seducers.

Bulgari Onekh

bulgari-le-gemme-men-onekh-malacencis-oud

To illustrate the ambivalence of black onyx the Perfumer chose the power of royal Oud. It has the balance between the different facets of this ingredient, a symbol of wealth and rank in Oriental countries where it has been used it for millennia. A product that is more expensive than gold, which is one of the most beautiful and loved natural notes in the world. For ‘Onekh’, Jacques Cavallier has used a sublime natural Oud: leathery and spicy wood, with notes of saffron and honey. The contrast between brittle, dry and smoked woods and the balmy, addictive and sensual notes serve to enhance this Oud of unprecedented quality.

Bulgari Garanat

bulgari-le-gemme-men-garanat

A symbol of the passion accompanying the deep red of the Garnet, but also of its light, the Perfumer has imagined a supremely elegant and virile Rose, translating the powerful energy of its colour which anchors this gemstone known since the dawn of times in the cradle of the greatest civilisations. A duality in which ancient mysteries and sophistication answer each other, transcribed in the dialogue between two symbolic ingredients: Rose and Incense. ‘Garanat’ is a perfume that is as rich and thick as velvet: curls of Roses and intoxicating incense chiaroscuro create a warm, surprising and fascinating fragrance with great masculine strength.

Bulgari Gyan

bulgari-le-gemme-men-gyan-heart-of-patchouli

Brightened by a generous dose of night Jasmine which envelops the scent with its sensuality, Patchouli illustrates the mysteries of the blue of the Sapphire in ‘Gyan’. This unique creation combines Patchouli with a flower, and delivers a very sophisticated particularly masculine perfume with an incomparable sillage: its trilogy of woods, dominated by its extraordinary heart of Indonesian Patchouli, illustrates the aristocratic grandeur and elegance of this stone of knowledge he pays tribute to. Jacques Cavallier has used Patchouli very generously, and reworked it in Grasse to highlight the most noble and beautiful aspects of its scent. Wisps of burned Incense intensify its aura and increase its mystery.

Bulgari Malakeos

bulgari-le-gemme-men-malakeos

Bulgari ‘Malakeos’ pays tribute to a classical theme of masculine perfumery, Fougère, that the Perfumer has entirely revisited. In search of a powerful naturalness, an icy and nurturing green freshness, the fragrance resonates with the properties and the colours of malachite and captures the deep and aromatic greens of the forests of the Ural. The unique character of this creation in which Lavender and Oakmoss reign, with a very rare Bourbon Geranium, is resolutely modern on its base of Musk. Like the brush strokes of an artist, the herbs, the woods and the musk recall the palette of the multitude of shades of brilliant, masculine and sensual green of the Malachite.

Bulgari Ambero

bulgari-le-gemme-men-ambero

The Vetiver root securely anchors ‘Ambero’ to the depths of the ear th and the shores of the Levant. Through spicy, rounded, unctuous and slightly ambery notes, the Perfumer presents a very different and contemporary interpretation of Vetiver with a warm, dense and voluptuous hear t which recalls that of Amber. It has a unique orientalism, to which Olibanum incense adds an extremely elegant character. Together it creates an ear thy, surprising and resolutely modern perfume.

Bulgari Tygar

bulgari-le-gemme-men-tygar

Bulgari ‘Tygar’ is a fragrance with incomparable brightness and a very strong personality. Around an explosive Grapefruit, an accord of deep woods and Ambrox captures the duality and the exceptional energies of the Tiger’s Eye. The first impression and impact is surprising. The base is dense, but still contains light and energy. The creation of this Ambery Citrus – the most Italian of the collection and a perfume with a strong identity – was a tremendous challenge for Jacques Cavallier: a new and dazzling contrast between Grapefruit with its freshness and light and the darker and more ear thy amber note of Ambrox, in a dosage which is unique on the market. ‘Tygar’ evokes sparkling and sophisticated virility.

December Birthstones: Turquoise, Tanzanite and Zircon

The three birthstones associated with December are Tanzanite, Zircon, and Turquoise

Turquoise

The name turquoise, from the French expression Pierre tourques or Turkish stone, originated in the thirteenth century and describes one of the oldest known gemstones. Turquoise varies in color from greenish blue, through robin’s egg-blue, to sky blue shades and its transparency ranges from translucent  to opaque. Turquoise is plentiful and is available in a wide range of sizes. It is most often used for beads, cabochons, carvings, and inlays.

Although its popularity fluctuates in fashion, it is a perennial favorite in the American Southwest.

Bvlgari Le Gemme Noorah

Tanzanite

Discovered in the late 1960s in Tanzania, and found exclusively in this tiny area of the world, tanzanite exhibits a rich violet-blue color for which the gemstone is treasured; often it is heat-treated to achieve this color.  Colors range from blue to purple, and tanzanites that are medium dark in tone, vivid in saturation, and slightly violet blue command premium prices.

As tanzanite can be less expensive than sapphire, it often was purchased as an alternative.  However, it has increased in popularity and now is valued more for its own beauty and brilliance than as a sapphire substitute

Zircon

Derived from the Arabic words zar and gun, meaning gold and color, zircon is found in a wide range of colors such as: blue, yellow, orange, brown, green, colorless, and red (the most prized color). For many years colorless zircon was used to imitate diamonds.  Folk wisdom grants zircon the power to relieve pain, whet the appetite, protect travelers from disease and injury, to ensure a warm welcome, and to prevent nightmares guaranteeing a deep, tranquil sleep.

Major sources of zircon are the Chanthaburi area of Thailand, the Palin area of Cambodia, and the southern part of Vietnam.

November Birthstones: Topaz and Citrine

Two gems are appropriate for November birthdays, Topaz and Citrine.

Topaz

Topaz is a gemstone available in a rich rainbow of colors. Prized for several thousand years in antiquity, all yellow gems in antiquity were called topaz. Often confused with citrine quartz (yellow) and smoky quartz (brown), quartz and topaz are separate and unrelated mineral species. The most prized color of topaz is called Imperial topaz after the Russian Czars of the 1800s and features a magnificent orange body color with pinkish undertones.

November’s birthstone is naturally formed in a wide variety of colors and intensities, so it’s likely you’ll find the perfect gemstone ring for you.

Topaz also comes in yellow, pink, purple, orange, and the many popular blue tones

Citrine

Citrine, the other birthstone for November is known as the ‘healing quartz’. This golden gemstone is said to support vitality and health while encouraging and guiding hope, energy and warmth within the wearer. Citrine is – still – highly populair by todays and yesterdays Maisons like Boucheron, Bvlgari, Rene Boivin, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Maubouchin, and Poiray.

The Supreme Temptation Bulgari Rose Goldea

bulgari-rose-goldea-2

Bulgari Unveils Rose Goldea – The New Tribute to Femininity: A Bold Jewel of Seduction, The Supreme Temptation. During Bulgari’s journey in the olfactory world, a new tribute to femininity comes alive through a blend of passionate rose and sophisticated musks; it is the Rose Goldea fragrance.

bulgari-rose-goldea-3

The desire to seduce is intensified with a design inspired by the Roman house’s iconic Serpenti, while the scent reveals the presence of a sensually strong woman. Diving more into history, this fragrance speaks to a modern-day version of ancient Egyptian women, whose beauty rituals consisted of drenching their garments with perfumes and wearing necklaces that featured aromatic seeds.

Bulgari-Rose-Goldea-6.jpg

Explaining the vision behind Rose Goldea, Master-Perfumer Alberto Morillas says: “Creating Rose Goldea has been an extraordinary adventure because we wanted to interpret the emotional dimensions of one delicate flower: Damascena rose, the most prestigious of roses. The fraction I used of Damascena rose actually doesn’t smell like a classic rose: here, I wanted to illustrate the very natural freshness, youthfulness and luminosity of the flower with the more translucent notes of musk. Rose Goldea is the eternal essence of femininity with an extension of Goldea in the fullness of its musky notes – it is a different facet of the same woman. It embodies royalty and gold, and reflects a woman who is almost unattainable. Yet at the same time she is also fulfilled at home, in her garden or on her royal boat, like an enamored version of Cleopatra. Rose Goldea evokes the eternal beauty that all women even to this day pursue, bringing associations of nature and freshness into a very contemporary and feminine trail”.

August Birthstone: Peridot and Sardonyx

Two birthstones are available for August birthdays: Peridot and Sardonyx.

Peridot

Peridot is said to host magical powers and is associated with rebirth, renewal and healing properties to protect against nightmares and to bring the wearer power, influence, and a wonderful year.  As peridot is a gemstone that forms deep inside the Earth and brought to the surface by volcanoes, in Hawaii, peridot symbolizes the tears of Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes.

Today, most of the peridot supply comes from Arizona; other sources are China, Myanmar, and Pakistan.  This gemstone comes in several color variations ranging from yellowish green to brown, but most consumers are attracted to the bright lime greens and olive greens.  Peridot, in smaller sizes, often is used in beaded necklaces and bracelets.

Women with August birthdays might enjoy receiving a peridot engagement ring, in particular.

Sardonyx

Sardonyx  is a form of onyx and is recognized by its layers of reddish brown and white banding.  It was popular with the ancient Greeks and Romans who carried into battle talismans of sardonyx engraved with images of heroes such as Mars or Hercules, believing that this would bring courage and victory.  Because of its attractive banding, sardonyx has long been used to fashion cameos (carved raised figures) and intaglios (the reverse of cameos). This gemstone is found throughout the world.

Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali

Bvlgari Le Gemme Imperiali Jade Collection

Bvlgari’s romantic past with jade is as colourful as the most cherished and sensuous stone of the East. The love affair blossomed in its colour revolution back in the 1950s and ’60s, when the jeweller took to Chinese antique jade carvings. The central part of its Roman flagship store, at the Via Condotti, housed bracelets, earrings, brooches, and even carved ‘paper knife’ handles no different from those of ancient traditions. As the Jade Gallery grew, so did Bvlgari’s fascination with the mystical stone.

The great refinement, knowledge and mystery of ancient China have always fascinated me. I find jade very special; the incredible opacity but also the milky transparency of jade in the light. The unique shades with their soft polish is very sensual.

Daniela Andrier, master perfumer

More than half a century later, Bvlgari wanted to develop a trilogy of fragrances as a tribute to China. The idea was then to transcribe the refined and sophisticated elegance of its traditional culture conveyed by jade into three fragrances, then finding the perfect balance and creating harmony. Bvlgari continues its lifelong dedication with three new floral perfumes Le Gemme Imperiali. Imagined from the purest jades of green, white and purple, they embody splendour, purity and desire, respectively.

Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali

Each is bottled in elegant flacons with their respective jade slivers and topped with the iconic golden fans of the Bulgari Diva jewellery collection.

Each fragrance has been associated with other notable and precious ingredients. Splendia, the green jade, is a blend of magnolia, narcissus absolute and tree moss, conveying natural elegance. Irina, the white jade, sees the combination of magnolia and jasmine petals absolute with sensual musk. It conveys purity. Finally, Desiria, the rare purple jade, is a combination of magnolia with lush petal flowers and a unique ambergris accord. It imbues a feeling of delicately floral richness.

It seemed clear to me early on that it should be the common luxurious ingredient of this trilogy of fragrances. Magnolia flower oil has a unique scent but is also very exclusive. The flower has a waxy aspect, reminiscent of the milky aspect of jade. It comes from China, is precious and gives a rich and natural note to the fragrances.

Daniela Andrier, master perfumer

Jade culture in China has inspired Bvlgari designers who carefully designed new fragrance bottles aligning them with the jade colors. Irinia, Desiria and Splendia take the form of previous Le Gemme bottles in black decorated with white, purple and green surfaces clearly suggesting the type of jades. Details in gold color on the edges and stopper further contribute to the beauty and elegance of the bottle.

Bvlgari Le Gemme Imperiali Irina,

A journey into the purity, mysticism and serenity of Ancient China. Inspired by the purest white jade and its aura of peacefulness, respect and generosity. Irina, a name of Greek origin, signifying ‘peace’, pays delicate homage to women of supreme elegance and femininity, whose beauty and poise emanate as much from within as from without. Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali – Irinia is a sensual and sophisticated Eau de Parfum of sumptuous floral musk notes.

Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali Irina1As key notes of the composition, perfumers selected floral notes of magnolia and jasmine followed with sensual musk.

Bvlgari Le Gemme Imperiali Desiria,

A journey through a luxuriant royal garden of the Tang empire. The soul of this luscious fragrance is mauve jade – a rare and exuberant gemstone. Desiria, meaning ‘desire’, conveys everlasting love and passion throughMauve jade. A sultry and captivating Eau de Parfum, the scent of a Chinese garden fantasized.

Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali Desiria1Desiria carefully transfers desire with the fragrant bouquet of roses surrounded by magnolia blossoms and a warm cloud of musk.

Bvlgari Le Gemme Imperiali Splendia,

Emblematic of Asia’s imperial power, the sublime green jade gemstone has been coveted by Emperors and Aristocrats for thousands of years. Splendia, a name that evokes the beauty and splendour of the Queen of all jades.

Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali Splendia1Splendia showcases floral notes of magnolia and narcissus over moss that provides a natural and earthy tone. Green jade on the bottle reflects the freshness and green colors with a scent of lush spring daffodils.

They convey beauty and sophistication in a delicate but nevertheless affirmed way. The woman who wears these fragrances signals her presence and personality with an understated yet unmistakable message of grace. Graceful, but long-lasting and very memorable.

Bvlgari Le Gemme Imperiali are available in a 100 ml Eau de Parfum at the price of 235 pounds.
