Italian fashion house Giorgio Armani has just announced the introduction of My Way, a bright white flowers fragrance that aims to portray a certain femininity, and was designed with a commitment to sustainability.

My Way is a strong and singular statement, communicating a resolve to follow one’s own path. More than a name, My Way reflects how life’s journeys, whether they are geographical or emotional, create one’s character, shaped by the people and moments encountered along the way. Capturing a spirit of curiosity and connection, it translates in its ethos ‘I am what I live’.

Perfume flacons are known for being more luxurious and decorative than they are practical and sustainable but this is quickly changing thanks to brands that are committed to creating refillable packaging solutions – as seen with the newly released Giorgio Armani My Way fragrance.

The fragrance itself, created by perfumers Carlos Benaim and Bruno Jovanovic, is said to be made with sustainably sourced ingredients and it is packaged in a component that’s recyclable, refillable and made from recycled materials.

Thanks to the combination of those efforts and the preservation of 650 hectares of Malagasy rainforest, My Way achieves carbon neutrality. As a result of a new, 5-year action plan, Armani beauty also commits to further reducing its carbon footprint by an additional 25% and to achieve carbon neutrality for all its products by 2025.

The face of My Way is the American actress Adria Arjona, of Guatemalan and Puerto Rican heritage, who shares a unique affinity with its philosophy, with her personality and life story characterized by an openness to new experiences and connections with others. Beyond her role for My Way, she is also joining the brand as their face for the make-up line.

Next, Adria Arjona will star in Morbius, the much-anticipated Marvel film set for release in 2021. Dutch fashion designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have unveiled the new luxury, limited edition of the bestseller of the fashion house, Flowerbomb from 2005, available in a specially designed Swarovski crystal flacon. Originally designed by Fabian Baron, the new unique design is very delicate and handmade. Each crystal on the bottle is added by hand and creates geometric patterns on the flacon. A limited edition specialty was produced in the jewelry studio, and over the years the technique has been refined and used for custom design.

The oriental-floral fragrance of Flowerbomb was created and signed by perfumers Oliver Polge, Dominique Ropion, Carlos Benaim and Domitille Michalon Bertier. For this exclusieve edition, the composition of the scent remains unchanged. A brand new, luxurious and contemporary Dunhill chapter started with the launch of Icon which enumerated an enormous amount of compliments on the quality of the composition and the attractive design of the bottle. Shortly after the debut of the new pilar of the brand, pilar of the brand, Dunhill presented his successor; an intensive and significantly darker version named Icon Absolute, exclusively available at Harrods. The second Icon does not show any loss in quality or authenticity, even though it was launched only a short time after Icon.

Under the leadership of John Ray, the new creative director of the house, and with the very talented perfumer Carlos Benaim on board, the Dunhill brand drew quite some attention last year. Icon received many positive reviews, both from consumers and from people from the industry.

The aim was to create Icon as a modern scent of natural refinement, which will convey the classical and luxurious heritage of the Dunhill London brand transcending, as much as possible, modern and bold elements. Icon is addressed to a masculine and sophisticated gentleman.

Carlos Benaim

Icon Absolute arrived much faster after the first edition than we expected, but its composition is really worthy of our attention and testing. This scent is superior. The intense and darker version would be appreciated by oud admirers, since its character is subtly flirting with all our senses and gives us a delicacy of magnificent oud notes, blended with leather and saffron. The traditional, oriental composition is really well made and emphazised with high quallity ingredients. The fragrance is characteristic for its combination of bold masculine accords playing with the sharpness of spices and the cold elegance of flowers. A velvety touch and warmth comes from precious woods and leather, combined with the carefully dosed sweetness of tobbaco leaves. Its longevity and radiancy is truly amazing on my skin.

 

Dunhill Icon Absolute Eau de Parfum

Icon Absolute repeats the notes of black pepper and bergamot from the original Icon olfactive pyramide, but elaborates the new composition in a completely different direction and manner. In the heart of the fragrance we find a cold and sharp, almost agressive saffron note, supported with flowers (black rose and jasmine). The rich and masculine signature comes with precious, warm, balsamic oud notes and some Tuscan leather, while tobbaco leaves give a fine powdery and slightly sweet, smoky trail.

Base: Tuscan leather, oud wood, tobacco leaves

The flacon is beautiful, massive and modern, designed with special care and attention to each detail. Created by renowned designer Mark Eisen, the gold cylinder bottle features a engine turning pattern that pays homage to Dunhill’s automotive origins (Dunhill’s Motorities). The smooth surface of the top of the golden stopper is embossed with the Dunhill relief logo. It is undoubtedly one of the most stylish fragrance bottle I have ever laid eyes on. The outer carton is playing with contrasts of golden surfaces and black, bold details.

This floral explosion releases a profusion of flowers that has the power to make everything seem more positive. Magically evocative notes immediately awaken your deepest senses, giving you the impression of living life in your own secret garden, away from reality.

Created by one of my favourite perfumers Olivier Polge, along with Carlos Benaim and Domitille Berthier, it was introduced ten years ago, in 2005 as an oriental and floral fragrance, and became a true classic and was Allure Best of Beauty award winner.

I found that this has a really sweet, powdery scent that could be overpowering but isn’t. Normally this would put me off a perfume but it hasn’t with this one.  You can really smell the patchouli and the orchid adds a sweet elegance to the scent.  When this is combined to the subtle luxury of the green tea, you have a really pretty perfume. It is really long-lasting and a few sprays will last for hours, which I always love with a fragrance.
