Starring actress and political activist Jane Fonda for the third year in a row, as well as award-winning actress and humanitarian Cate Blanchett, the  2020 Pomellato For Women Godmother.

The video also features 2020’s Academy Awards-winning and outspoken actress Laura Dern, comedic actress and philanthropist Tiffany Haddish, lauded French actress Isabelle Huppert, LGBTQ+ activist and social media sensation Max Emerson, French founder of the Maison des Femmes and sexual violence activist Dr. Ghada Hatem, Irish writer, broadcaster and activist Sinéad Burke, acclaimed Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg, Chinese actress Huang Xiang Yi, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher, Canadian transgender model Krow Kian, and Pomellato Group CEO Sabina Belli, as they announce themselves hopeful and united in the belief that we can effect change.

Speaking in a choral message on their hope for equality and inclusivity, they prompt us to ask ourselves, ‘Who is not in the room?’ Understanding the power of luxury brand visibility, Pomellato uses the Pomellato For Women platform to ignite and promote change, underscoring the Maison’s values of empowerment, environmentalism and inclusivity, as it projects a message of hope.

The Pomellato For Women initiative was first developed in 2017 to highlight the importance of female leadership and a more authentic idea of natural beauty. Founded by a cross-section of women from various disciplines, ages and arts, these ambassadors act as the bearers of Pomellato values. A true woman’s affair, most of Pomellato’s clients are women buying jewels for themselves, thus Pomellato’s workforce is 74% female, and has been headed by CEO Sabina Belli since 2015.

Pomellato was founded by Pino Rabolini in 1967 under the concept of prêt-à-porter jewelry for the liberated woman during an important era for women’s emancipation. Pomellato recognized that the independent woman would need a more functional jewel to wear from workday to evening, and the ready-to-wear jewelry concept was born.

Ocean’s 8 movie starring Cartier’s historic necklace is hitting the screens

French Maison Cartier took on a new motion venture in the film Ocean’s 8 as the exclusive jewellery partner. This collaboration comes together naturally as the all-female lead movie complements Cartier’s ethos of empowering women with the boldness to be themselves. It is now opening in the theatres this June, featuring the recreation of a historic high jewellery Cartier necklace as the centre of the plot.

Ocean’s 8 is a feminist reboot of the 2001 Warner Bros. film Ocean’s Eleven. Instead of Brad Pitt, George Clooney and friends, we get an all-female lead cast starring Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling and even singer Rihanna and rapper Nora Num aka Awkwafina,

The movie’s premise surrounds Debbie Ocean, estranged sister to the trilogy’s Danny Ocean; rather than hitting Vegas in some macho caper, she attempts to pull off a jewel heist at the Met Gala. The crown jewel of the film is none other than one of Cartier’s most iconic jewellery pieces.

In real life, the necklace was designed for Maharaja of Nawanagar back in 1931 and it was named after Jeanne Toussaint, who was the creative director of Cartier at the time. The original necklace even included the Queen of Holland diamond which alone weighed a whopping 136.25 carats and was known as ‘the finest cascade of coloured diamonds in the world’.. The replica was resized to suit Anne Hathaway.

For this cinematographic project, the featured necklace – to be worn by Anne Hathaway – is a high jewellery replica created with the blueprint from the original sketch, composed of colourless diamonds. While it is chosen to be the centre of the plot, the Toussaint Necklace will not be the only Cartier creation featured in the movie. From jewellery to watches, the Maison’s Cartier collection and high jewellery collection will all make appearance during the pivotal Met Gala scene – much like they did on the actual gala this year.

This year, Giorgio Armani has dressed ‘Si Rose Signature’ in a silky powder pink ribbon that winds around the fragrance’s Onyx lid and falls down over the glass bottle, where its two ends cross. The ribbon evokes the décolleté of a haute couture gown, with delicate and refined style. A discreet black circular badge bearing the fragrance’s name holds the ribbon’s crossover ends in place, echoing the deep black finish of the lid, which has golden rings at its base.
