Precious Chopard Black Incense Malaki

Swiss watchmaker and jewelry house Chopard was founded in 1860. Founded in the small Swiss village of Sonvillier, Chopard’s initial focus was on precision timepieces, in the Swiss tradition. In 1963, the company sought a buyer who could continue the family’s rich heritage of fine timepiece production, and the company was sold to Karl Scheufele, from a noted German watchmaking family.

Chopard experienced tremendous growth under the Scheufele family, who modernized the company and expanded its expertise into fine jewelry. In 1989, Chopard launched its first fragrance: Happy Diamonds. Creative director of the Maison, Caroline Scheufele, wanted to create a connection between a precious stone and a perfume.

In the years that followed, Chopard has launched a beautiful collection of iconic fragrances, like the Casmir Collection (from 1992), Heaven (1994), the Wish Collection (from 1997), the Malaki Collection (from 2012), the 1000 Miglia Collection (from 2013), the Gardens of Paradise Collection (2018), and the Garden of Kings Collection (2019).

Today, the Chopard iconic Malaki Collection presents a new oriental creation inspired by incense. Black Incense Malaki is a tribute by Chopard to the millennial tradition of royal Frankincense resin.

The Malaki line now includes five fragrances: Oud Malaki from 2012, Rose Malaki from 2014, Amber Malaki from 2015, Musk Malaki from 2017, and Black Incense Malaki from 2020.

With Black Incense Malaki, the Swiss Maison pays tribute to the millenary tradition of royal Frankincense, one of the most ancient and treasured aromatic plants of perfumery. The fragrance is announced as mysterious, bold and intense, based on a game of contrasts; warm resins woods, leather, and cold, spicy, smoky aromas.

Chopard Black Incense Malaki is a creation of Alberto Morillas, it is classified as an Oriental Spicy – unisex – fragrance to the nose. The emanation of flavors and scent notes for Black Incense Malaki unfurl in a whiff of aromatic and herbal opening top notes including spicy.

Black Incense Malaki showcases a superb array of 14 natural essences from the world over, among which 5 are from Naturals Together, Firmenich’s program of Excellence, guaranteeing the highest level of natural ingredients, ethically and sustainably sourced.

Chopard Black Incense Malaki’s composition is built around the key note of Frankincense (olibanum) which offers deep and cold smoky aromas, surrounded by warm and dense layers. Warm resins are blended with warm and smoky wood, hot and piquant spices, a rich oud accord, and a masculine and dark accord of leather.

Black Incense Malaki is a powerful and heady elixir, unfolding in luxurious layers. Chopard Black Incense Malaki is wrapped in a beautiful stylish black flacon, with a matt golden cap, and comes as a 80ml Eau de Parfum. Come into the beautiful world of Chopard.

Chopard lights up the world of Haute Joaillerie with Magical Setting

Chopard, the artisan of emotions, ignites the traditional world of Haute Joaillerie with a scintillating new collection – Chopard Magical Setting. The spectacular radiance of these majestic cluster rings, pendants and earrings is made possible by an ingenious and innovative secret setting that allows the diamonds and precious colored stones to shine supreme, playing with light as never before.

A dramatic light show

In this dynamic retake on one of the noblest and most enduring jewelry classics – the floral cluster – Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, unlocks the intense light and luster deep in the soul of a gemstone and unleashes the full emotional power at the heart of the jewel.

With Chopard Magical Setting, she explores light, in all of its many facets: as a universal symbol of the divine, of purity, joy and euphoria, as the essence of seductive glamour, and as the most powerful emotional trigger in a gem or jewel.

Origins of the Cluster Design

The cluster design can be traced back to the 14th century, originating perhaps in medieval ring-brooches worn to fasten cloaks or tunics, and developing into huge, elaborate gem-smothered circles.

The cluster as we know it blossomed in the 17th and 18th centuries as a stylised interpretation of the flower – the earliest of adornments – at a time when diamonds, newly discovered in Brazil during the 1720s, were becoming more available and desirable to a new and wealthy merchant class.

Through the 19th century, the fashionable cluster took the form of a single and usually important coloured stone, encircled by diamonds, acquiring an air of majesty and splendour, as it took pride of place in the jewel boxes of royalty and nobility. In this shape and form, the cluster was to remain the traditional motif of 20th century Haute Joaillerie, in which the focus was resolutely on gemstone content and classicism.

Now Caroline Scheufele – co-president and artistic director of Chopard – takes on the challenge held out by the classicism of the cluster, exploring its nobility and versatility, playing with its proportions, and revelling in its connection to a galactic star cluster; a tightly-packed mass of pure light and energy, radiating outwards, in the night sky, inspiring awe, wonder and excitement.

Chopard’s Magical Setting

In this dynamic re-imagining of one of the noblest and most enduring jewellery classics – the floral cluster – Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, unlocks the intense light and lustre deep in the soul of a gemstone while unleashing the full emotional power at the heart of the jewel.

With Magical Setting, she explores light, in all its many facets: as a universal symbol of the divine, of purity, joy and euphoria, as the essence of seductive glamour, and as the most powerful emotional trigger in a gem or jewel.

Classically elegant in colour composition as well as design, the collection offers a choice of jewels set with diamonds only, or with diamonds and blue sapphires from Sri Lanka, rubies from Mozambique/Madagascar or emeralds from Colombia/Zambia.

Each cluster is centred on a significant single stone and encircled throughout with other unusually large stones, giving the classic design an unexpected edge of bold modernity. The dramatic light show performed by the jewels is achieved by an innovative setting technique, developed by Chopard’s master artisans.

While the centre stone of each cluster is set in barely-there claws, the surrounding stones are held in place, as if by magic, with no visible means of support, and no metal visible from the front or top of the jewel.

Instead, the cluster is underpinned by an entirely new and pioneering structure, exclusive to Chopard. This means that the light can flow freely in and out and around the gemstones, rippling across the surface of the stones, unimpeded by the opacity of metal constraints, unfettered by demarcations. Meanwhile, the gold of the underlying structure serves to intensify the dazzling brilliance, creating unprecedented visual excitement.

The face of the Magical Setting campaign is the beautiful Brazilian model, Adriana Lima.

It’s no secret that Chopard is often inspired by middle east art and culture, not only in their precious jewels – and watches –  but also in their fragrances. Chopard is renowned for expertly blending an elegant array of scents to create an olfactory experience quite unlike any other. Following the news that the Maison is creating a new fragrance collection, titled Gardens of Paradise, Chopard held an exclusive soirée at the courtyard of the One and Only Hotel in Dubai to officially launch the four-flacon collection.

Chopard Gardens of Paradise Collection Banner

Chopard have launched four luxury fragrances capturing the various scents of the Arabian Gardens of Paradise.

Gathering the city’s top editors and personalities, as well as guests of the Swiss jewellery brand such as Chopard Chief Executive Officer Caroline Scheufele and British-Moroccan model Nora Attal, the elegance of the opulent dinner was echoed through beautiful table settings.

I wanted to recreate the peaceful and restoring aura of the oasis, and it’s tradition of hospitality. I imagined the reassuring scents of vegetal ambers, the touch and feel of warm sand in the powerful shadow of sky-reaching palm trees.I wrapped everything into the rich aroma honey, to create a special sense of bliss and abundance.

Alberto Morillas

Created by master perfumer Alberto Morillas, the new Gardens of Paradise perfume collection offers the most luxurious scents inspired by the Arabian gardens. Named Miel d’Arabie, Rose Seljuke, Jasmin Moghol and Orange Mauresque, Morillas worked with bold natural ingredients such as calabrian bergamot, indian sambac jasmine, damascena rose and provence honey to bring together a series of beautiful and expressive fragrances. Our top pick? Miel d’Arabie that’s reminiscent of precious spices, tea infusions and sweet pomegranate, blended with a floral and balsamic aromas of honey extract.

Rihanna in recent years has worn Chopard jewels on red carpets at major events so the two described the move to collaborate on new collections as natural.

I have always been in love with Chopard’s exquisite jewellery, so to actually design collections with them is something I still can’t believe. It was a really incredible process and I learnt so much! I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

The debut pieces from the Rihanna Loves Chopard Joaillerie, nine spare pieces follow a modernist style and re-create Chopard’s signature chain link Ice Cube motif with deep forest green ceramic and warm 18 karat rose gold.
