In 1947 Rose Repetto created her first ballet shoes on the advice of her son Roland Petit, in a tiny worlshop near the National Opera of Paris. A few years later she moved her boutique to 12, Rue de la Paix, Paris. In 1956, on Brigitte Bardot’s request, Rose Rapetto creates the Cendrillion ballerina and dedicates it to her. For BB – and Rapetto – this ballerina will always be part of their success in Roger Vadim’s film ‘Et Dieu créa la Femme’.

In 1959 Rose Repetto moved her boutique a few doors further on the Rue the la Paix, to number 22. It becomes the place frequented by the world’s prima ballerina’s, Bejart, Noureev, Barychnikov, Carolyn Carlson, the Kirov of the Folies Bergères, all are supplied with their dancing shoes, and garments by Repetto.

In 1964 Repetto got it’s ‘official’ logo, designed by Leonor Fini. In the 1970’s Serge Gainsbourg got fascinated by the ‘Zizi’, a shoe-model created by Rose Repetto for Zizi Jeanmaire, her daughter in law. he became the ambassador of the brand. Jean-Marc Gaucher took Repetto over in 1999, with the ambition to breath new life into the the firm. Repetto invites famous designers, like Issey Miyake (first partnership in 2000), Yoshi Yamamoto (first partnership in 2002), Comme des Garçons (first partnership in 2004) and Karl Lagerfeld (first partnership in 2009) to work with.

luxury-shoes-repetto.gifIn 2012, for the first time, Rapetto presents a ready-to-wear collection inspired by the dancer’s clothing. The iconic, timeless and pure models embody the feminine, light and graceful silhouette. The sublimated movement of a body. The models of the Repetto wardrobe recall the the ballet’s pureness, desciplines, lightness and grace. The subtle, delicate femininity comes to light.

A year later the French Maison launched its first perfume, L’Eau de Toilette. A delicate blend of pear and cherry blossom, rose and orange blossom and vanilla and amber wood. It subtly evokes the grace, the lightness and the femininity of ballet dancers.

Pop Repetto offers an explosive freshness and a delicate aquatic sweetness of pomegranate that announces the lush spring bouquet of transparent jasmine and peony flowers. The base is almondy and balmy from tonka beans, combined with cedar essence. The bottle repeats the same shape as previous editions with a bright yellow ribbon around the flacon neck, which holds a pendant with the Repetto brand logo.

Pop Repetto is available as 50ml Eau de Toilette at the price of 66.99 EUR. The newest Repetto fragrance is available from May 2019 in France as a limited edition.

 

 

 

 

Comme des Garçons joins Baccarat for Exquisite Collaborative Glassware

Japanese fashion house Comme des Garçons taps French glass artisans Baccarat for a special collaborative event. To welcome summer, the duo are launching a pop-up with a special edition piece of stemware.

Reimagining the Harcourt with polka dots.

Having recently dipped into the world of Japanese fashion courtesy of fragment design, Maison Baccarat is no stranger to inventive creations. This collaboration, however, isn’t a new shape – instead, Comme des Garçons tweaks one of the iconic classic Baccarat creations.

comme-des-garcons-aoyama-baccarat-harcourt-glass-collaboration-event-2The Harcourt wine glass has remained a staple of Baccarat’s line-up since the Maison was founded in 1841, simultaneously highlighting the house’s knack for elegant design and its equisite attention to detail. Sleek lines inform the glass, arcing down onto a brilliantly simple hexagonal base.

Comme des Garçons’ collaborative edition places branding on the base and CdG’s preferred polka dots across the bowl, yielding a glass that is equal parts progressive and classic.

Joining the $415 Harcourt glass, a commemorative T-shirts will drop at the special event hosted inside Comme des Garçons Aoyama, which begins May 31.

The French label has released some of its most celebrated fragrances in a new, travel-friendly variety.

The new Comme des Garçons fragrance collection will feature the fresh scents of ‘Amazingreen’, the leathery notes of ‘MAN2’, and the oakey smells of ‘Wonderwood’. The artsy designed bottles are ideal for on-the-go travel and abide to TSA requirements, leaving you hassle-free at airport security at 25ml a bottle.

Japanese designer and founder Rei Kawakubo has independently orchestrated the label’s rise since its beginning in 1969. The success of Comme des Garçons is defined by Kawakubo’s ability to challenge convention, not only through design, but also in the way she approaches the business of fashion. In 2009, Comme des Garçons felt it was necessary to do something in response to the general negativity engendered by the recession and to counter the feeling of things being blocked or stopped because of the crisis. BLACK Comme des Garçons was born.

2013 marks the regeneration of that concept through the launch of BLACK Comme des Garçons Eau de Toilette, an emergency, guerrillalike, spiced-up new scent. An urgent, guerrilla-like spicy scent, BLACK Comme des Garçons Black is an incarnation of the sub-line’s dark and mysterious, yet ultimately playful, sensibilities.

Heart: leather, liquorice, birch tar, pepperwood
Base: cedarwood, vetiver

The top notes are a mix of exotic African accords – black pepper from Madagascar and incense from Somalia – that open up to a heady heart of leather, liquorice, birch tar and pepper wood. Drying down with a woody base of vetiver and cedarwood, the scent comes in a suitably black-based bottle and packaging and will be available at the beginning of April in-store.

Comme des Garçons Amazingreen is created by perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault as a modern and daily fragrance with a nice aroma that is not over intense nor too freshly. It blends palm tree leaves, green pepper, dew mist, jungle leaves, ivy leaves, orris, coriander, silex, gunpowder accord, vetiver, smoke and white musk.

This ‘blast of green energy’ starts out cool as a tropical shower from bouncing shiny leaves the size of umbrellas.
