Prada, has just extended their olfactory offerings by introducing a mini edition of their iconic Prada Candy fragrance collection. Candylicious and sweet, the mini collection, aptly titled Prada Candy Cosmos, consists of Prada Candy Eau de Parfum, Prada Candy Florale, Prada Candy L’Eau and Prada Candy Kiss – which was originally fronted by American muse Lexi Boling in the April ad campain.

For its ‘visual journey’ into the Candy universe, Prada worked with illustrator Vahram Muratyan on campaign stills and an animated short. In the short film a Prada Candy-shaped spaceship, with a female passenger inside, Candy, travels through hot pink space. Stars in this version of space are replaced with flower petals, with the spaceship bouncing off each to create a Prada Candy-shaped constellation. The animation continues with a space walk among the floral stars and a psychedelic trail left behind by the spaceship that soon circumnavigates larger Prada Candy bottles leaving blossoms in its wake. Prada’s minute-long video ends with the Candy character sitting on the rings of a nearby planet. She uncaps a bottle of Prada Candy and flowers migrate toward the neck’s opening to create the scent.

To mark the anniversary, the brand will be releasing the Tom Ford Orchid Collection of scents and cosmetics inspired by the iconic scent. These included Black Orchid Eau de Parfum, Perfume Lalique Edition, Eau de Toilette, Hydrating Emulsion, Perfume Atomiser Set, Solid Perfume, Nightbloom Powder and Lip Color as well as select Velvet Orchid editions, which will all be released in October 2016.

A special crystal bottle edition of Black Orchid, designed and handmade by French  Lalique, will also be part of this collection. There are also new blush powders and lipsticks, as well as select Velvet Orchid editions.

L’Envol de Cartier: Taking Flight

This must be what the Gods of Olympus smell like, at least according to Mathilde Laurent and French luxury Maison Cartier. The in-house perfumer for Cartier has come up with the brand’s first men’s cologne, L’Envol de Cartier, in eight years and it is set to take everyone to greater heights. To create the scent is to bring to life an idea so that everyone can share it, according to Laurent. She shares that the fragrance was inspired by the exploration of self, where one has to overcome fears and have courage.

Mathilde Laurent created a beautiful fragrance. L’Envol de Cartier reminds of the freedom and passion of one of the Maison’s greatest legends, the aviator Santos-Dumont, who leaves a legacy of victory, awakening the passion of the memory lovers through a dedicated fragrance to masculinity

The main ingredient for the fragrance stems from ambrosia, a food that was consumed by the Greek gods conferring them with immortality and longevity. Of course, ambrosia doesn’t exist so Laurent had her work cut out for her. With accents of honey, wood, patchouli and musk, the eau de parfum is said to be strong yet not overpowering.

Sarah Jessica Parker launches new fragrance, Stash

There’s a new coveted scent now available on the beauty counter and if Sarah Jessica Parker’s previous perfumes are anything to go by, Stash is set to be a sell-out…

It’s been 11 years since Sarah Jessica Parker first launched Lovely, and today, the actress’ fourth perfume has been released on the market. Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Parker says: “One of the hardest secrets I’ve ever been asked to keep. A scent we’ve spent years perfecting. Passed among a select few like a verboten substance. Offered up only in secret but no longer. For all of those who’ve stopped me on the street, in the grocery store, on the subway, in the library, at the theater to ask me what fragrance I’m wearing, I can finally reveal the answer: Stash by SJP Beauty”.

Base: olibanum, massoia, vetiver, musk

As inspiration for this fragrance, Sarah noted body odors, church, leather and a few masculine perfumes that she wore that would include notes of incense and vetiver. Stash SJP begins with notes of fresh grapefruit, black pepper and aromatic sage. Its heart notes include Atlas cedar, patchouli, ginger lily and pistachios, laid on the warm woody base of olibanum, massoia wood, vetiver and musk. The composition is developed in collaboration with perfumers from IFF.

Sarah Jessica Parker calls it the naughty, subversive sibling of her most popular fragrance Lovely.  Announced as sexy and raw, Stash SJP is an aromatic-woody composition suitable for both women and men.

The bottle is inspired by old pharmacy bottles, with rum colored liquid and black details.

Maison Martin Margiela launches four new fragrances

Replica, which is intrinsically linked with memories, will be boosted by the addition of an oriental leather scent, a white floral aldehydic, a green vegetal scent, and a fresh ‘cologne-style’ eau de parfum. The fragrances are named ‘Dancing on the Moon’, ‘Across Sands’, ‘Soul of The Forest’ and ‘Flying’ respectively.

Maison Martin Margiela is launching four new Eau de Parfum fragrances, continuing its ‘Replica’ Eau de Toilette series, established in 2012

Each fragrance is labelled ‘Gender Anonymous’, reinforcing the house’s dedication to equality and its “non-conformist approach to society gender norms”.

The Eau de Parfum collection retains the same packaging design and bottle structure as the Eau de Toilette scents, comprising a black spray-cap apothecary bottle that signifies nightfall, the precursor to dreams and the awakening of the subconscious. An inky black cord ombré gradient effect is sprayed down the glass, while silver laboratory-style labels add a futuristic touch and reference the house’s signature ‘silverfoil’ that has appeared across both garments and accessories in creative director John Galliano’s ready-to-wear collections. The designer describes the ‘Replica’ Eau de Parfum as “Hi-fi, lo-fi, with a sci-fi finish”.

The new fragrances will launch on September 26.

Tory Burch introduces a new line of fragrances

American eponymous label Tory Burch has added a new range of olfactory scents to her ever-growing beauty portfolio, aptly titled Jolie Fleur. Looking towards Burch’s own botanical garden for inspiration,  Jolie Fleur is made up of three unique fragrances: Rose, Verte and Bleue.

Some of my favorite flowers…. Rose, lily of the valley and tuberose — each one is beautiful with a unique and extraordinary fragrance.

The Jolie Fleur Rose fragrance is a feminine and romantic scent made up of beautiful notes of rose, fresh tea rose accord, cashmeran, musk, pink pepper, green sap accord, strawberry leaves, white amber and sandalwood, while Jolie Fleur Verte captures a refreshing and easygoing mix of mandarin, neroli oil, jasmine, sandalwood and musk.  The Jolie Fleur Bleue scent is as fruity as it is spicy with ingredients including tuberose, jasmine, grapefruit, sandalwood, vetiver, pink pepper, violet leaves, peony and amber.

Bvlgari’s romantic past with jade is as colourful as the most cherished and sensuous stone of the East. The love affair blossomed in its colour revolution back in the 1950s and ’60s, when the jeweller took to Chinese antique jade carvings. The central part of its Roman flagship store, at the Via Condotti, housed bracelets, earrings, brooches, and even carved ‘paper knife’ handles no different from those of ancient traditions. As the Jade Gallery grew, so did Bvlgari’s fascination with the mystical stone.

The great refinement, knowledge and mystery of ancient China have always fascinated me. I find jade very special; the incredible opacity but also the milky transparency of jade in the light. The unique shades with their soft polish is very sensual.

More than half a century later, Bvlgari wanted to develop a trilogy of fragrances as a tribute to China. The idea was then to transcribe the refined and sophisticated elegance of its traditional culture conveyed by jade into three fragrances, then finding the perfect balance and creating harmony. Bvlgari continues its lifelong dedication with three new floral perfumes Le Gemme Imperiali. Imagined from the purest jades of green, white and purple, they embody splendour, purity and desire, respectively.

Each is bottled in elegant flacons with their respective jade slivers and topped with the iconic golden fans of the Bulgari Diva jewellery collection.

Each fragrance has been associated with other notable and precious ingredients. Splendia, the green jade, is a blend of magnolia, narcissus absolute and tree moss, conveying natural elegance. Irina, the white jade, sees the combination of magnolia and jasmine petals absolute with sensual musk. It conveys purity. Finally, Desiria, the rare purple jade, is a combination of magnolia with lush petal flowers and a unique ambergris accord. It imbues a feeling of delicately floral richness.

It seemed clear to me early on that it should be the common luxurious ingredient of this trilogy of fragrances. Magnolia flower oil has a unique scent but is also very exclusive. The flower has a waxy aspect, reminiscent of the milky aspect of jade. It comes from China, is precious and gives a rich and natural note to the fragrances.

Jade culture in China has inspired Bvlgari designers who carefully designed new fragrance bottles aligning them with the jade colors. Irinia, Desiria and Splendia take the form of previous Le Gemme bottles in black decorated with white, purple and green surfaces clearly suggesting the type of jades. Details in gold color on the edges and stopper further contribute to the beauty and elegance of the bottle.

Calvin Klein Names Margot Robbie Face of Deep Euphoria

The original Euphoria launched in 2005, with a follow-up, Endless Euphoria, nine years later. Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova was the face of the first Euphoria campaign and model Vanessa Axente the face of Endless Euphoria. Now Calvin Klein has tapped Margot Robbie as the face of its Deep Euphoria women’s fragrance. Calvin Klein presents the new fragrance Deep Euphoria as a variation on the theme of the original Euphoria, which, although a flanker, is allegedly bringing a completely new composition of clear chypre-floral character to the table. Unlike the rest of the collection, Deep Euphoria will stand as a separate pillar within the line, side by side with the Original, as the ‘more modern, empowered sister’ to the existing two fragrances.

It’s the first time Robbie has fronted a fragrance brand. The 25 year old actress, will appear in the global print and television advertising campaign for Deep Euphoria. She perfectly embodies the modern femininity. It’s a big summer for the actress who rose to star status after appearing in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ in 2013. Robbie will star as Jane Porter in this summer’s highly anticipated ‘The Legend of Tarzan’, as well as ‘Suicide Squad’.
