For Summer 2012, Guerlain once again hooked up with fashion designer Emilio Pucci. I say once again, because there was a Guerlain x Pucci collaboration back in 2007.

French Maison Guerlain and prestigious fashion house Emilio Pucci have joined their forces to create a makeup collection for summer. The collection is inspired by the colors and the atmosphere of the Italian Riviera, offering a wealth of sunshiny shades and vibrant maritime colors.

Pucci designs are easily identified by the geometric and colourful printed fabrics, and this has been translated into the packaging and colours of the Terra Azzurra collection. Azzurra, meaning Azure or blue in Italian. Inspired by the blue of the Mediterranean sea, the blue colour is a running theme, complemented by pink. The products are graced with Pucci’s iconic ‘Winter Capri’ print and issued as a limited edition.

Guerlain Terra Azzurra Bronzing Powder & Bluch is a lightweight powdery formula that combines a bronzer and a brush. The outher case is made of ebony-colored wood and it is presented in an accessory pouch printed with the Pucci motif.

Emilio Pucci Verde 072

Emilio Pucci was a famous fashion designer – a semi-professional athlete and politician – from Florence. His first fragrance Emilio Pucci Vivara, created by Michel Hy, was launched in 1965. It was named after a deserted cresent shaped Island opposite Ischia, in the bay of Naples, Italy. A balsamic green fragrance for women, evocative the Mediterranean sun, salt, sea, and summer in Emilio Pucci’s distinctive style. It starts with a green fruity aldehydic top, followed by a fruity floral heart, layered over a warm, woody and ambery base.

Emilio Pucci Vivara has been discontinued since the mid 1980s. In 2007, Vivara was reformulated by François Demachy, Nathalie Gracia-Cetto and Marie-Aude Couture-Bluche and relaunched in a new flacon, shaped as a pebble. The newer reissue didn’t smell nothing like the original. It is classified as a chypre floral fragrance for women.

The following three years, every year a limited edition flacon – in an other color – was launched.
