Balenciaga Joins Forces With World Food Programme for Second Capsule Collection

In 2018, French Maison Balenciaga decided to embark on a mission to support the World Food Programme’s aim to ending hunger by 2030 and by doing so, launched a collection for Fall/Winter ’18.

The fashion house’s fight to end hunger continues.

Continuing its commitment to the humanitarian organisation, the Kering-owned luxury fashion house launched a second capsule collection to engage its customers around one of the world’s most important issues with a new selection of clothing and accessories.

Expanding from last year’s offerings, the second capsule collection includes more designs, including socks, hats, scarves, pants, raincoats, T-shirts, blouses, hoodies, and unisex bags, available in multiple colours.

The new collection will continue to raise awareness and support the World Food Programme with some designs adorned with the official WFP logo, and others feature a signature repeating slanted pattern comprised of Balenciaga and WFP logos.

Also, what makes the launch even greater is that Balenciaga will be doubling the amount of proceeds from each product designated as a WFP donation to 20 percent (10 percent more than last year).

Kim Kardashian West joins forces with Winnie Harlow to drop a skinclusive new beauty collab

American media personality, businesswoman, model and socialite Kim Kardashian West has teamed up with Canadian fashion model, and public spokesperson on the skin condition vitiligo, Winnie Harlow for a super-limited makeup collection.

In July 2011, Harlow posted a video titled ‘Vitiligo: A Skin Condition, not a Life Changer’ on YouTube. She talked about the condition and answered questions about her life living with vitiligo. In November 2014, Harlow spoke in a TEDx presentation, recalling her experience with it. She was presented with the ‘Role Model’ award at the 2015 Portuguese GQ Men of The Year event.

Upon announcing her collaboration with Harlow, Kardashian West shared a promotional image for the partnership, referring to the model as ‘the definition of true beauty’. By demonstrating that beauty is not limited to a single skin color or condition, Kardashian West and Harlow successfully champion for diversity that is much needed within the makeup industry.

Backed by a striking gold-coloured sports car suspended in the air, featuring pieces from the Fall 2019 collection, Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director Daniel Lee steers the Italian fashion house in a fresh direction, all while keeping the brand codes with a modern, clean, and sophisticated style. Exploring the contrast between man and machine, everything from the campaign exudes lavish glamour and status.

Expect to see clean silhouettes with a touch of modernity throughout the collection. From gold statement jewellery and textured coats with a metallic finish, to ribbed high-neck tops for men. We can’t wait to see what more this amazing direction will bring for the brand.

A head-turning gold-coloured supercar suspended upside down in the air sets off the graphic silhouettes of the new collection. When power is subverted like that, it’s possible to discover a fresh point of view and see things from a different angle when it comes to looking at the traditional status of luxury itself. And by referencing post-modern symbols of prestige and glamour in the campaign, the brand that was founded in 1966 in Vicenza, Veneto is exploring the raw contrast of man versus machine.

Chic is back: Alberta Ferretti Haute Coututre Collection

For the Alberta Ferretti Fall 2019 Haute Couture collection, the fashion designer used new style templates, working on more structured, 3-D volumes while keeping silhouettes fluid and simple.

The collection featured a color palette, unusually audacious for Ferretti, who favors paler and dustier hues. Instead she went bold, with bright shades of chartruese, fire red, turquoise, and fuchsia enhanced by the luscious textures of radzimirs and liquid silk satins. It gave impact to a voluminous, dramatic winged cape worn over slim-fitting pants, or to a red carpet–worthy, floor-sweeping number with a feminine bow-front bustier.

The play of elongated, simple contours was continued in tiered chiffon dresses and evening jumpsuits with lace-embroidered intarsia and fan-pleated ruches. Sequined minidresses had a svelte allure. Yet Ferretti’s flair for romance cannot be easily dismissed.
