I do love this time of year because it’s when the beauty and fashion world get ready to unleash their new collections on us!

And right now I’m loving the new Joli Rouge, uber moisturising, long-wearing lipstick from the beauty boffins at Clarins.

This season their lipstick collection channels a modern feminine look with 25 lush lip colours on offer. The colours are divine and there really is something for all skin tones here and the texture is super smooth and smells so yummy I defy you not to want to eat it! Anyway the enhanced formula also promises to deliver real lip care benefits thanks to its organic marsh samphire extract and mango oil which leave you with a super soft feel.

The Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks should be on shelves from the end of August.

 

 

The MAC x Guo Pei collection

You can always count on MAC for a knock-out collaboration. This season, the makeup connoisseurs have teamed up with Guo Pei. One of the biggest names in China’s fashion scene – if you’re unfamiliar with the name, think again. Remember Rihanna’s impressive Met Gala dress this year? Two years in the making (by hand, may we add), the yellow masterpiece – that prompted many a bad-taste meme – was made by none other than Pei.

Teaming up with the Chinese couturier, MAC present a collection of jewel-tones and neutral colour-ways punctuated by deep graphite, inspired by Pei’s ‘Garden of the Soul’. The packaging deserves a special mention – with each product encased in exotic floral-illustrated fabric, the MAC x Guo Pei collection is one to show off in the powder room.

The MAC x Guo Pei collection will be on sale exclusively in Fenwick of Bond Street, Harrods, Selfridges and maccosmetics.co.uk from October 1.

 

Prabal Gurung’s cosmetics line is revealed

As fashion designer Prabal Gurung prepares his last pieces for the season, he also shows off his first cosmetics line – the initial step in building his namesake beauty business.

Born in Singapore and raised in Nepal, 35-year-old Gurung can still remember his mother’s cosmetics case in his early years, and talks fondly of saving her compacts after she’d finished with them.

My love of fashion and beauty began when I was a kid. It was my comfort, my escape. I didn’t know the beauty brands or the big designers when I was really young, but I was fascinated by the packaging and the beautiful boxes. It was almost magical. I’d see my mom come home from work and put on all this make up and it would be a total transformation happening, and [I saw] the confidence that came with that.

A collaboration with the ever-happy to oblige MAC Cosmetics, Prabal Gurung’s 14-piece collection will launch on November 26 in MAC stores in the U.S. – and in December in all of the brand’s international stores (except China).

All those in attendance of the designer’s SS15 show on September 6 will also get an exclusive preview.
