Givenchy Dahlia Divin Nude

Dahlia-Divin-Nude-1

French maison Givenchy launches a new fruity/floral Dahlia Divin Eau de Parfum Nude. The original version, Dahlia Divin, is one of my favorite perfumes due to its unusual soft, yet intense but not overwhelming aroma. Since I’ve discovered it in 2014 it still pleases and fulfills my wishes.

Top notes: Apricot, Orange blossem
Heart notes: Osmanthus, Jasmine sambac, Rose
Base notes: White musk, wood

Dahlia Divin Eau de Parfum Nude is a deluxe perfume composed of fresh apricot and orange blossom at the beginning, calming with Jasmine Sambac, roses, wood and white musk. The new version resembles the original perfume, but is more intense and warmer. Dahlia Divin Eau de Parfum Nude is advertised by gorgeous Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel.

Givenchy Gentleman opens with fresh pear notes mixed with spice cardamom infused with floral accords of iris and lavender. The base calms with wood notes of leather and sweet black vanilla.

The Museum of Lace and Fashion, Calais presents Hubert de Givenchy retrospective

The-Museum-of-Lace-and-Fashion-Calais-France-presents-Hubert-de-Givenchy-retrospective.jpg

From June 15 to December 31, 2017, The Museum of Lace and Fashion in Calais, France, is holding an exhibition dedicated to the work of Hubert de Givenchy, the legendary fashion designer and founder of the French Maison. Seventy outfits symbolizing his inspirations, his expertise and his significant encounters recap almost six decades of fashion design. Now 90, the designer has dressed some of the most amazing women in the last 50 years, from Audrey Hepburn to The Begum Aga Khan to Daisy Fellows.

The master of couture and dress presents an inside look to his work and inspiration.

The show will see 70 outfits from private wardrobes, the Givenchy archives and the collection of several European museums go on public display for over six months. Under the artistic direction and curation of Hubert de Givenchy himself, the exhibition will retrace the couturier’s entire career, from his first collection in 1952 to his sumptuous wedding gowns and his key encounters.

The show, which presents couture creations in sober white, gray and black display cases backed by mirrors, opens with a section dedicated to haute couture fabric samples. Essential tools in the creation of bespoke garments, the different fabrics and textiles with which Hubert de Givenchy worked hold a key place in the exhibition. In fact, exceptional textiles are something of a running theme, with the show also highlighting the work of artisans the couturier worked with for decades, such as embroiderers Lesage and Vermont, and fabric manufacturers Abraham and Beuclère.

Standout pieces include a blue and white striped organza sheath dress worn by the Duchess of Windsor, a famous ‘Bettina’ cotton blouse dating from 1952, a spectacular ball gown in Chantilly Lace  and satin, an evening ensemble in lame brocade and embroidered with gold and silver braids, metallic leaves and beads, and a cocktail dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Blake Edwards’ movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’.

Certain encounters proved particularly influential on the work of Hubert de Givenchy. From Jacqueline Kennedy and the Duchess of Windsor to the Countess de Borchgrave, the designer dressed some of society’s most stylish figures. Meeting his muse, Audrey Hepburn, proved particularly decisive, both for his career and for the actress’ style, which was built through their friendship. A whole section of the exhibition will explore this relationship, featuring several gowns worn by Audrey Hepburn in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and ‘How to Steal a Million’, as well as clips from her movies.

In addition, the exhibition highlights the designer’s artistic inspirations and explores Givenchy fragrances, while also showcasing exceptional eveningwear creations and imposing wedding gowns made from lace and tulle.

Hubert de Givenchy – The Museum of Lace and Fashion, Calais, France will be opened from June 15 to December 31, 2017.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the new face of Gentleman Givenchy

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Givenchy Fragrance by Amanda Demme

One of Hollywood’s rising stars is now taking the lead at Givenchy in a campaign that is set to ignite a new look for the French Maison…

English actor and Golden Globe winner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has just been named as the face of Givenchy’s men’s fragrance, Gentleman. The campaign, which will be released in August is set to show the actor as “a daring artist and a multi-talented actor, with a caring and charismatic personality”, said Romain Spitzer, Givenchy Parfums CEO. “We’re thrilled to have him as our iconic face for Gentleman Givenchy”.

In Nocturnal Animals he plays such a loathsome creep in the movie and yet he still manages to look sexy at times because he’s just so attractive. The 26-year-old English actor best known as the title character in the Kick-Ass films and Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He had his breakthrough performance in the 2009 biopic Nowhere Boy in which he portrayed a young John Lennon.

Aaron has also appeared as Ben in the Oliver Stone-directed crime thriller Savages, Russian aristocrat Count Vronsky in Joe Wright’s 2012 adaptation of Anna Karenina, and Lt. Brody in the 2014 monster movie Godzilla.

Givenchy Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum

Givenchy Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum

Givenchy launched the third addition to the Dahlia Divin collection, an intensive version named Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum, Le Nectar follows the Original Eau de Parfum from 2014 and the lighter Dahlia Divin Eau de Toilette from 2015. The collection follows the theme of Dahlia Noir launched in 2011.

Givenchy Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum

It is in my opinion, a younger, more playful take on the original scent but still possesses the same enchanting and feminine aura. Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum represents the luxurious, haute couture version of the fragrance, a symbol of gold and femininity, announced as ‘the elixir of divine potency’. The composition is developed by François Demachy who focused on golden flowers of mimosa which brings their unique signature to the scent. Sambac jasmine, present in all the Dahlia Divin creations, is complemented by sensual and elegant rose. The floral heart is supported by the woody base of almost creamy vetiver, sandalwood, tonka bean and lavish vanilla musk.

Top notes: Mimosa
Heart: Jasmine, Rose
Base: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Tonka bean, Vanilla, Musk

This beautiful perfume is stunning both outside and within. Housed within the same rectangular bottle as the original, the bottle is made of lacquered glass in shades of gold, adorned with gold thread around its neck and with an engraved gold plate that bears the name of the perfume. The transparent bottle holds fragments of gold leaves.

Dahlia Divin Le Nectar de Parfum

She’s a goddess of our time – an icon.
An apparition so luminous, so fascinating and charismatic that her presence feels like radiant sunshine – her absence, an eclipse.
She is the woman with the dazzling aura, celebrated by Dahlia Divin since its creation.
More precious, more legendary than ever…

Model Candice Swanepoel replaces singer Alicia Keys as the embodiment of a Dahlia Divin woman in the new campaign. The promotional video is directed by Gordon von Steiner, with the visual campaign shot by Peter Lindbergh.

It is undeniably feminine and I adore its subtle, delicate sweet undertones. The fragrance is available in three sizes, a 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum Intense.

Givenchy Live Irrésistible

Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Toilette ad

For 2016, Givenchy captures the scent’s uplifting joie de vivre in an Eau de Toilette, for an even more refreshing, rich and audacious version of the original fragrance. It’s due to land in stores for summer 2016.

Like the original Eau de Parfum, Givenchy’s Eau de Toilette was developed by Dominique Ropion (Givenchy Amarige, Lancôme La Vie est Belle, Paco Rabanne Invictus, Dior Pure Poison). The perfumer has created an uplifting and fizzy fragrance, bursting with floral, fruity notes.

Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Toilette opens with soft top notes of pear and juicy raspberry, bringing a fresh and fruity zing to the scent. Rose brings richness to this fruity cocktail, which rounds off with notes of Jamaican allspice, blonde wood and musk.

Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Toilette

The scent’s long, slender and textured bottle is finished in shades of pink, with pastel-hued glass and a brighter, candy pink label.

American actress Amanda Seyfried returns as the face of Live Irrésistible in a campaign filled with elegance and humorous self-mocking. The campaign includes a TV ad, filmed by Matthew Frost, and a magazine ad, which sets the Givenchy ambassador in a summery Parisian scene, shot by Matt Irwin.

Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Toilette is available in two formats, 40ml and 75ml.

The Nose: Pascal Gaurin

Pascal Gaurin Nose

Pascal Gaurin was born circa 1970 in France. This French Perfumer works for IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) as Senior Perfumer for the Fine Fragrances division (Click photo to enlarge).

Pascal had no objective reasons to become a perfumer, but chose it thanks to his gift. His fascination with scents was so great that as a child, he literally explored the world with his nose, causing his mother to wonder if he was afraid of being poisoned.

Pascal studied and graduated at ISIPCA in Versailles and a year after that he began to work in IFF, first in Hong Kong, where he enriched not only his olfactory palette, but also gained a deep understanding of the art, customs and olfactory preferences of people in Asia. Then, in 1997, Pascal was offered the chance to work in IFF, New York, the city of his dreams. The city where everything happens, and where all smells come together.

Most inspired by very dense essences, Pascal Gaurin is fond of resins, deep woods and anything that can express extreme sensuality. His taste for darkness probably originates from his grandparents’ home in Creuse, France. ‘The forests are very dark there, it always feels like it’s night time, you can feel the vapors of humus, mushrooms, leaves and bark. . . I love frontal materials, those you need to tame like sculptor does stone, by keeping the volume but making it flow’. This is where he gets his affinity for cistus, patchouli, Cashmeran and vanilla, ingredients he qualifies as erotic.”

IFF

Other passions of Pascal, which help him in his work, are music and film. The palette of fragrances created by Pascal Gaurin is wide indeed:
