The exterior comes in soft suede leather, finished with the iconic BB logo in aged-gold hardware that was taken and updated from the archives, complete with a circular metallic top handle that’s wrapped with a silk-twill scarf to ensure maximum comfort while sitting in the crook of your arm. Measuring 22 cm at its widest and 11 cm at its highest, the Opera Clutch opens via a snap magnetic fastening to a black leather interior that would fit your absolute essentials. A phone, lipstick, several essential cards (fitted into the card slot within) and maybe a pocket-sized perfume spray – all you really need on a good day (or night) out.

Gucci’s limited edition Jane Austen book

A new floral edition of Jane Austen’s Juvenilia is now available but only with an iconic Gucci handbag.

Gucci – who were recently named as one of the world’s top brands – have just upped the ante on academic accessories with the launch of the limited edition Jane Austen book Juvenilia, together with the Frame Print leather top handle bag. The series of short stories has been re-designed by the Italian fashion house to be sold exclusively with the lion-esque handbag.

A statement on the Gucci website explains the collaboration saying: “Each handbag will come with a small, pocket-sized book featuring a unique printed cover inspired by the collection. This detail dates back to the beginning of the century, when women often carried books in their handbags to read on public transportation to deter any unwanted suitors. The book Juvenilia is a compilation of short stories written by English writer Jane Austen during her teenage years from 1787-1793, a time during which she was free from censorship or societal pressure. The creative chaos and the continuous contradictions which characterise the stories are the same pillars we witness in Gucci’s collections”.

 

 

 

Lady Dior Small China Valentine Bag Sold Out Within Few Hours Via WeChat

Christian Dior is the pioneer luxury brand to sell its sophisticated ‘Lady Dior Small China Valentine Bag’ on messaging and social network. The French luxury brand has offered its limited edition Lady Dior bags on Chinese mobile app WeChat to commemorate the upcoming Qixi Festival, the Chinese equivalent to Valentine’s Day. The pink-colored bag would have been available online until Thursday at a price of 28,000 yuan ($ 4,217 – 3800 Euro), however it was sold out within few hours on the first day of the marketing campaign.

For the limited edition ‘Lady Dior Small China Valentine Bag’, consumers could drag the online pictures of the decorations for their purses, tailor-making them to their preferences. Buyers could pay through WeChat for the Valentine-edition tote. The marketing campaign states that the limited edition leather handbag comes in the color of rose powder and is only available in Dior’s online boutique. Later on, however, the fashion hose revealed that the same model will be available in offline shops after August 4 for the same price.

From Paris with Love: Boucheron

Visiting Begum Om Habibeh at Yakymour one day, she had a nice present for my mother. Because my mother had a few special occasions in that time, some parties and a wedding, Om Habibeh gave her this great purse, including it’s original sterling silver, 18k and ruby Vanity Case. All handmade by the famous French jeweller Boucheron..

In the 1930’s, jewellers such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Boucheron, Mauboussin and  Tiffany & Co, began producing minaudières,  silver, gold or platinum evening bags or vanity cases, carried on a metal or silk cord that contained a compact powder plus space for a few other small items, like lipstick. Many were inlaid with jewels or personalised, or made by order.

Fendi ‘Bag Bugs’ Collection

As much as we love Italian fashion house Fendi’s timeless totes and their designs transforming every woman into a modernist, this holiday collection is going to turn the fashion world around. First appeared in the autumn and winter 2013 collection, these super cute monsters are introduced in various items; the iconic baguette and 2jours tote have been converted into a bug with two eyes and a nose.

Slightly diabolical yet absurdly adorable at the same time are the critters from Fendi’s festive offering, the ‘Bag Bugs‘ Holiday collection, which I’ve been a fan of ever since I spotted the first generation of critters from the F/W13 collection.

Key chains embellished with a monster eye, wallets and shoes with facial expressions from fun to surprised and anger, adding a playful touch to your style. In case you wonder, they are made from real leather.

Besides furry bag charms that come with their own names (Furyou, Nutty, Snobius and Wild Jess, no, I’m not kidding), there will also be long wallets, fur-trimmed coated-canvas clutches and of course, those adorable ballerina flats. All come emblazoned with the critters’ eyes. Besides the Baguette and the Peekaboo that will come also decorated with the ‘eyes’, my personal favourite has got to be the Mini 2Jours that will come in Cream or Black (shown above).

It will not be suprising if we tell you that the collection will be pre-sold in Japan, where grown-up toys have always been a trend. You will be comfortable carrying the monster baguette or 2jours in Tokyo, but is it practical to carry in Europe and US? What do you think?

From 25 Sept to 8 October, this unique collection will be available in Isetan Shinjuku and from 9 to 22 October in Hanky Umedia. After 1 November, Fendi decided to release them in all boutiques in Japan.

 

 

 

 

Mauboussin’s first bag will be available this spring

Famous French ‘Haute Joaillerie’ Maison Mauboussin is launching its first handbag. This will be a new venture for the jewelry house which has only sold jewelry, watches and perfume up until now.

The beige and brown canvas and leather handbag will come in one size. Mauboussin will unveil an ad campaign for this exclusive piece with the slogan ‘Simplement pour Elle’ (‘Simply for Her’). The shots taken by photographer Sylvie Lancrenon show an almost naked Elsa Zylberstein covering up with the Mauboussin handbag. The bag will be available from March and will retail for €500.
