Bubble bar

French champagne house Moët & Chandon has opened its largest champagne bar in Europe this week. Harrods department store in London serves the full selection of champagnes from the Moët Imperial e Moët Ice to the grand vintage champagnes, champagne cocktails and a matching menu of ‘bites’. If you need another excuse to go shopping in London, now you have it!

This stylish bar is located on the ground floor of the world-famous Harrods department store. Absolutely fabulous to settle down with your shopping bags and catch your breath with a wildly sparkling glass of bubbly.

Champagne bars are the trend of the moment. No wonder, because champagne has never been so popular before. And what could be better than enjoying a moment in an environment that is all about this bubble. In Amsterdam you can now visit ‘The Champagne Room’ and the new ‘Bar du Champagne’ on the Rokin.

World cities such as London have had champagne bars for years, for example in luxury department stores. Because real shopping includes a glass of bubbly. But never before as big as Harrods’ new Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar. This is also the first permanent champagne bar of this house in Europe.

Moët & Chandon has served the royal courts of France under Louis XV, walked the red carpets of Hollywood, toasted the Grand Slams of the world, lit Studio 54, attended every Fashion Week, rejoiced with every milestone of the Queen, and to this is added Harrods department store: an iconic London destination with its doors open to all.

The bar seats 34 under a striking gold chandelier that reflects the topography of the Epernay region. The Champagnes served by the bottle – from 75cl to magnum – include exceptional wines from the Moët & Chandon Legacy Champagne Grand Vintage and from the Legacy Champagne Rare Limited Edition Bottle Collections – including a 1959 Grand Vintage Magnum worth €4,400, but the more accessible Brut Imperial NV (€19) is also on the menu.

You can also taste fantastic champagne cocktails and choose from a number of bizarrely tasty bites. How about stone oysters with a topping of pear, cucumber and Oscietra caviar or a vegan ‘faux gras’ with rhubarb and ginger served with bread. And completely addictive: the creamy Moët Caramel. This is a Moët & Chandon dark chocolate bottle filled with 66% dark chocolate mousse & salted caramel, served on a crunchy biscuit.

Are you a real foodie? That’s good, because this bar has thought of that too. Gourmets will not be disappointed with a range of delicious sweet and savory dishes. From the signature ‘Choux Love’ – dish of the house – a dessert of puffs filled with mango and passion fruit (each branded with Moët’s letters) – to the ‘Cheese Délice’ – a burrata stracciatella with spicy kimchi on toast of black sesame.

Come into the beautiful worlds of Moët & Chandon, and Harrods.

Precious Serge Lutens Tarab

The Serge Lutens Flacons de Table collection gets a new limited-edition. It’s named Tareb and is available exclusively at Harrods from November 20 on, announced as ‘a golden lustre to outplay the contrast between light and shadow’.

The character of the Serge Lutens Tarab Eau de Parfum is best explained by discovering the meaning behind its name. In Arabic, ‘Tarab’ refers to a trance-like state in which the body is lost in dance, the senses heightened by music which seems to take flight. This evocative feeling is translated into fragrance form via sensual notes of Turkish rose, Cambodian oud and cypriol.

Tareb represents an interpretation of a 300-year-old perfume from India called ‘Shamama’, as well as Serge Lutens’ version of the combination of agar wood and rose. Woods, resins, smoky notes and the unique scent of candied fruit form this aroma which contains the official notes of oud from Cambodia, Turkish rose and cypriol. The additions of cedar, pine needles and patchouli highlight different silhouettes of roses.

Note the luxurious golden flacon, complete with a curvaceous design and apothecary stopper, which reflects the golden glow that changes with light, and in a wooden box in a North African style.

Serge Lutens Tarab is available as 75ml Eau de Parfum exclusively at Harrods. Come into the beautiful worlds of Serge Lutens and Harrods.

World’s most expensive perfume

Clive Christian No.1 Passant-Guardant-blacks

British luxury interior designer and perfumer, Clive Christian has earned a reputation for creating some of the finest and most beautifully crafted perfumes in the world. Most famous of all, perhaps, is the scent of No.1 Perfume that became renowned as The most Expensive Perfume in the World. He calls it “the perfume of my heart”. To celebrate the recent opening of the Salon de Parfum boutique at Harrods, Clive has created a limited edition of his No 1 perfume, available exclusively at Harrods. This one-of-a-kind work of art comes with the extra price tag of …($228,580/£143,000)!

He calls it the No.1 Passant Guardant: Clive took the house’s signature crystal bottle and draped it in fine, handcrafted, 24 carat gold lattice-work. The upper part of the heraldic crest is from his own coat of arms, awarded by Queen Elizabeth 11′s Royal College of Arms in 1999 when he took custodianship of the Crown Perfumery. Embedded in the lattice-work are more than 2000 individually set flawless white diamonds. Set in the eyes of the lion standing ‘passant guardant’ over the Crown are two yellow diamonds, whilst a rare pink diamond marks out the lion’s tongue. Eye-watering stuff. The piece is a sensually opulent homage to the fragrance within- 30ml of No.1 The World’s Most Expensive Perfume.

For $228,000, you can buy a whole lot of stuff — cars, yachts, even a new home. Or maybe just a bottle of perfume.

‘No.1 Passant Guardant’, packaged in a handmade crystal bottle that boasts 24 carat gold lattice work and decked out in diamonds.

Unlike most perfumes, which today are created to a marketing director’s brief, this one was designed to be simply the best. No thought was to be given to cost or to rarity. What was wanted was a great complex perfume that was as fine, as beautiful, and as gorgeous as perfume could be. The consequence of such a brief was that, No.1 boasts only the rarest, finest, most luxurious and precious oils and ingredients from around the globe. Part of the Original Collection, at the heart of both the men’s and women’s perfumes lies the rare Florentine Orris and Ylang-ylang, while at the base of each are Cedar Wood, Sandalwood and the finest Tahitian Vanilla, as well as Tonka Beans, which add a lovely creamy note to both perfumes.

Clive Christian No.1 for Women

No.1 for Women is a floral Oriental. Serene and sophisticated with fruity top notes of Pineapple, Plum, Mirabelle, White Peach, Bergamot and Lemon; the sweetness is cut with spicier notes of Cardamom and Pimento oil. Slowly, the scent unfolds, weaving a slow enchantment as it reveals notes of Jasmine, Carnation and Orchid, with a centre of Rose; the bloom that is associated with Aphrodite’s gardens of love and beauty. At the base, as we have seen, are the exotic Tahitian Vanilla and the woody notes of Cedar and Sandalwood, as well as Musk Amber and the creamy Tonka Bean. It’s a rich and complex perfume- subtle yet sophisticated.

Clive Christian No.1 for Men

No.1 for Men is woody Oriental; understated yet distinctive. At the top lie notes of Bergamot, Lime, Sicilian Mandarin and Pink Grapefruit, which are spiced up with the tang of Cardamom and Nutmeg, Pimento oil, Thyme and Artemisia oil. At the heart, joining the Orris and Ylang-ylang, we find Rose, Jasmine and Lily of the Valley, while Heliotrope adds a rare and distinctive note. Sitting proudly at the base is a rare 50-year-old Indian Sandalwood, which traditionally was used to draw soul mates together, as well as a powdery Musk and Vetiver. The perfect combination for an accomplished and confident modern man.

Clive Christian No.1 for Men1

The 50ml spray comes in a stunning gold bottle, reviving the original glass bottles from the perfumery archives, completed with a signature Clive Christian stopper shaped like a crown. However, for the pure perfume aficionado, Clive also designed a hand-polished finest Baccarat crystal bottle and stopper, completed with an 18-carat gold collar and adorned with a single five carat, white brilliant cut diamond, as a symbol of the rarity of the ingredients within. The extravagant bottle is presented in a silk-lined lacquer box. Fitting containers for the World’s Most Expensive Perfume indeed!
