Hermès Presents Heure H

HyperFocal: 0

A strong and steadfast signature, French Maison Hermès’ Heure H was created in 1996 under the impetus of the designer Philippe Mouquet is more than a watch. It is indeed a symbol, which has maintained its edginess, its dynamism and its freshness over the years, thanks largely to the singular idea of capturing time inside a letter. An amusing way to frame the passing of time.

An object of Hermès’ leather goods expertise, the double tour strap – designed by Martin Margiela for his first fashion show for Hermès in 1998 – fits seamlessly into the case and accentuates its graphic shape. This watch band features a dual nature, with a classic finish between the case lugs and a geometric micro-perforated H pattern on the second loop around the wrist. To achieve a transparent effect, a wafer-thin sliver of Beton leather is inserted between the two strap sections.

Crafted by Hermès Horloger artisans, the Heure H watch case is available in two versions. The first, made of steel, is adorned with an apricot or vermillion strap, while the second rose gold-plated variation comes with a black or etoupe strap.

The white lacquered dial, punctuated by four Arabic numerals and metallic hands, strikes a pleasing contrast with the strap colours. The overall result is a perfect match between rigorous stylistic and technical disciplines, highlighted by the precision of a deft and expert touch.

Objects shaped by the hands of artisans to make them true companions for those who wear them. Practical, functional and stemming from uncompromising expertise, they radiate the lightness of the unexpected. They make everyday life their playground, and each instant a uniquely special moment.

For Hermès, time is also an object. Its inherent tension is translated by the house into a singular characteristic. Rather than measuring, ordering, and seeking to control it, Hermès dares to explore another time, designed to arouse emotions, open up interludes and create spaces for spontaneity and recreation.

Hermès-Un-Jardin-Sur-La-Lagune

Hermès Un Jardin Sur La Lagune leads us to Venice and reveals the magic of a hidden place behind a stone wall.  Perfumer Christine Nagel uses floral notes of magnolia and Madonna lily among with sea and wood nuances to conjure up a secret garden on the water. A maritime and sunny fragrance that puts a smile on your face.

The story is about a mysterious garden that an English lord build on the water inside the lagoon in Venice at the end of the 19th century . This private garden, the biggest in Venice, that has stood still in time, is simple in all its splendor and an inexaustible source of new discoveries, when the wind and salty water left crystal deposits on the flowers.

Hermès reinvented its classic Terre d’Hermès scent

Terre-dHermes-Vetiver-Banner.jpg

Former perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena of French Maison Hermès was reponsible for the creation of classic scents from the house, like Voyage d’Hermès and of course Terre d’Hermès. On the latter, which he created in 2006, he said the scent was meant to evoke the idea of, ‘Feeling the earth, lying on the ground, gazing at the sky’.

Fast forward to 12 years later, and the house’s new nose, Christine Nagel, has taken on the daunting task of reimagining Terre. Her creation: Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver. Tasked with revisiting a living olfactory heritage she brings a new intensity and vegetal slant to the scent.

Terre-de-hermes-packshot-vetiver.jpg

How exactly did Nagel approach the task of creating a new version that still reflected the woody and mineral elements of the original? According to Hermès, her role was like that of a ‘watchmaker fascinated by a mysterious movement’. She examined the scent from every angle in order to understand its compexities and intimate mechanics, and then deconstructed it – choosing to reassemble the scent and illuminate certain points of the fragrance.

The key ingredient is vetiver, as the name suggests, but this version is given more roundness and warmth. Nagel also transformed the original note of black pepper to Sichuan pepper – this variety is greener and more citrus, lending an energy to the scent and helping the notes to melt into each other effortlessly. Finally the bergamot orange, picked before it has reached maturity, is part of the new juice, adding a fresh, daring quality to the scent. This transforms the original juice from a woody and mineral fragrance to one that is more woody and vegetal.

Hermès Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver is presented in the iconic Hermès glass bottle, and is topped with a warm brown stopper that has the appearance of leather tanned by the sun.

Hermès Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver is still utterly refined, unapologetically masculine and unerringly elegant. And from Hermès we would expect nothing less.

Hermès Sur-Mesure, If You Can Dream It, They Can Create It

hermes-application-sur-mesure-2.gif

French Maison Hermès is noted for many things. Bags that are worth investing in more than property, and silk scarves that shape-shift from accessories to halter tops are among those items. What not many would know about, though, is the brand’s low-profile special projects arm, hiding in plain sight at the bottom of the French luxury auteur’s website in the form of a little tab, spelling Le Sur-Mesure. Meaning, Made-To-Measure.

With Le Sur-Mesure, the sky’s not your limit, it’s the depth of your imagination and bank account. But that’s, of course, if your even land a reply from the atelier.

Bespoke is not a novel idea, more so for the higher echelons of fashion where the world’s most well-heeled crop of consumers splurge their wealth. So for the almost-two centuries old French luxury goods house, assuming roles as tailors not merely to the sartorial needs of its affluent consumers, but also to the ‘fruit of [their] imagination’, is readily hoped for.

Discreetly, Hermès has offered bespoke products to selected special clients. Founded in 1837 to serve the horse-harness needs of affluent Parisians, Hermès branched out over the subsequent 181 years into saddlery, belts, leather trunks and handbags, scarves, fragrances, wearables, lamps, wallpaper, tableware, furniture, and ready-to-wear collections – all could be customised to fit the client’s specific wishes. Le Sur-Mesure, though, aims to take that concept one step further. Throughout the brand’s expansion, Sur-Mesure has remained a constant, if low-key, offering amid the relative profusion of gleaming ‘H’ belt buckles and Birkin bags.

I like to give an artistic and sometimes twisted answer to an object’s functionality. We are not just a manufacturer; we are a house of ideas. And we like to surpass people and give some funny answers. We have a very open-minded way to approach each project, by being innovative and working with new materials. We want to give fantasy.

Axel de Beaufort, design and engineering director of special projects for Hermès Sur-Mesure

The atelier is based, along with other Hermès workshops, in the Paris suburb of Pantin. One-off projects created under its direction include a skateboard with a custom brown-leather carrying sling; a winged horse saddle in red, yellow, and orange worthy of Wonder Woman; a fastidiously stitched picnic box; and an acid-green protective case for an apple. Roller skates are in development, as are boxing gloves.

ROCABAR-hermes-Julien-Oppenheim-2000x1373

For some, this has taken the form of custom arm chairs coated in Hermès’ iconic supple brown leather, or maybe one-off boxing gloves designed to perfectly form around their clenched knuckles. For another, it may be the seats of their exotic car to their private jet or the cabin of a 12-metre dayboat like the Rocabar.

We are not just a manufacturer; we are a house of ideas. And we like to surpass people and give some funny answers.

Axel de Beaufort, design and engineering director of special projects for Hermès Sur-Mesure

The boat, Rocabar, is a Hermès creation – not that the uninformed eye would ever discern that. Lacking the telltale ‘H’ or any other defining marker, Rocabar is the ultimate personal bauble.

It could be anything: Bag, suitcase, garment, saddle, phone case or piece of furniture for your vacation home. Even the casket to your hot air balloon, or plush interior of your rare Aston Martin DB4. Whatever it is, the team of Le Sur-Mesure artisans will have it made to life and skilfully crafted just for you, using the house’s finest materials. The only catch will be that no one other than you would ever know it’s an Hermès.

It will never be written big: ‘Here is my Le Sur-Mesure Hermès bag, only the client needs to know it was made for them.

Christophe Beltrando, Hermès atelier managing director

What Beltrando would not disclose was how much any of these products could set one back. After all, giving away such information is “not really in keeping with the spirit of Le Sur-Mesure”. Something else he would not reveal: What percentage of Le Sur-Mesure’s business comes from existing Hermès clients versus new ones.

Hermes_Sur_Mesure_12---Quentin-BERTOUX

Want to Birkin-ize your vintage car or boat? No problem. And if you’d like a cabinet that holds your luxury items to be a luxury item itself, Hermès has you covered.

As expected, the dream factory has an ultra-strict door policy. Hermès will reject requests that don’t reflect its brand values. “One guy who owned this super 1980s-style yacht talked to us”, mused Alex de Beaufort, artistic director of Le Sur-Mesure, then shook his head. “Our best ambassador is the product and we must be aware of that always”.

Hermès Eau de Citron Noir

Hermes-Eau-de-Citron-Noir-perfume

French Maison Hermès launches a new perfume for both men and women, Eau de Citron Noir. The new perfume, Hermès Eau de Citron Noir is described to be fresh aquatic/citrusy with woody elements, as well as a modern design and powerful charms.

A journey into the olfactory world of citrus notes has plunged me into the heart of the vast world, dotted with surprises, lemons. Lemon caviar, lemon hand Buddha, lemon Eureka … So many original lemons have challenged me, but it is the black lemon, so smoky, so racy, which has finally established as the high point.

Christine Nagel

Translated, Eau de Citron Noir means black lemon water, which isn’t exactly appealing to think about, especially when it comes to fragrances. But because this is also a new scent from Hermès created by house perfumer Christine Nagel, one should always expect the unexpected.

As the name of the perfume inspires, Hermès Eau de Citron Noir is really a nicely citrusy-infused perfume that has been used for so many years by men and women on their daily basis. The Maison’s new fragrance follows other previous editions that were successfully launched and adored by true connoisseurs. Eau de Citron Noir describes the dark lemon note in its composition, not an intense and pungent fragrance with an aromatic aroma.

Day and night, the new Hermès Heure H with lacquered dial

Hermes-Heure-H-Lacquer-GIF

A strong and unmistakable signature, the Hermès Heure H, created in 1996 under the creative impetus of the designer Philippe Mouquet, is more than just a watch: it is a symbol that has succeeded in retaining its energy, dynamism and freshness. Notably thanks to a unique idea: that of capturing time inside a letter. A strong concept and a playful and confident way in which to shape the passing of time.

Above all else, the Hermès Heure H is a style that does not follow convention. Its case epitomises a bold and joyful sense of companionship. And now, its capital H is filled with black or white lacquer. Its dial, varnished in black or white, has also been treated with lacquer, in this instance translucent so as to better reveal the pigments it protects. Immediately identifiable, the Heure H offers an interplay of rigorous stylistic and technical discipline, and creative spontaneity. The beauty of paradox.

The strap colours – eight in all – alternate the depth of black or white with the vibrancy of red, orange, yellow, blue… An interchangeable strap to suit the wearer’s mood, wish or desire, and available in two versions: the Simple Tour (onceround) and the Double Tour (twice-round) – a Hermès emblem invented by Martin Margiela.

The lacquered Hermès Heure H is available in two sizes: medium and small. Cases, dials and straps are finely crafted down to their finest details in the Hermès watchmaking workshops in Switzerland. Objects shaped by artisans to make them true companions for those who wear them. Stemming from uncompromising expertise, they radiate the lightness of the unexpected. They make everyday life their playground, and each instant a uniquely special moment.

For Hermès, time is also an object. Rather than measuring, ordering, and seeking to control it, Hermès dares to explore another time, designed to arouse emotions, open up interludes and create spaces for recreation. Daring to capture time, to play with it. This is what is made possible by the Heure H, whose earnest reliability and creative charm multiply endlessly to construct an intensely personal time.
