Taiwan-born Shining Sung, whose family owns Taiwan’s Chi Mei Museum, launches her first fragrance, Formosa, exclusive at Bergdorf’s (New York City).

Created by Honorine Blanc, Formosa, named after the original name of Taiwan, is a new fragrance that extols the beauty, and charm of the island. The floriental composition is formulated with ingredients Indigenous to Taiwan – plum blossom, white peony, black currant, sweet mandarin, labdanum, patchouli – and conceived as a love letter to Sung’s home country.

The unique Art Deco style flacon was designed by Marc Rosen, who is known for his works for Elizabeth Arden (Red Door), Chloé, Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld (KL), Halston, Burberry, Lucien Lelong (Lelong) and Nina Ricci’s L’Air du Temps for their 50th anniversary by Lalique. In the advertising campaign of the newest fragrance we find Taylor Hill and real-life boyfriend Michael Stephen Shank. Taylor Hill’s new Ralph Lauren fragrance campaign was ‘extra fun’ to shoot because she got to work with her boyfriend again.

The 23-year-old, who has a long-standing relationship with the designer, was tapped to front the imagery for the Romance fragrance alongside her longtime boyfriend Michael Stephen Shank in January, and the duo is now fronting the campaign for the brand’s new perfume, Beyond Romance.

It was comfortable. It was extra fun because it wasn’t just some random person I hadn’t met before.

The video shows Taylor and Michael partying in New York, where they live, embracing on a rooftop near the Empire State Building and setting off fireworks, and the Victoria’s Secret Angel told Us Weekly she felt at ease on the set because she didn’t have to fake chemistry with a stranger.

Taylor shared that the scent gives her “flashbacks of being a teenager and falling in love for the first time” and evokes the day of the photoshoot.

When I smell Romance, I think of the shoot day. It was a day where I got to be a tourist in my city and go to the top of the building with the Empire State Building right in front of me.

During the interview, the Ralph Lauren fragrance ambassador also revealed that fragrances would make her sneeze as a child, her first favourite scent growing up was the laundry detergent Tide, and she applies her perfume to her neck, the back of her ears and her wrist before leaving the house each day.

It’s been 13 years since Calvin Klein – who created still-recognizable zeitgeist scents like Obsession and Eternity – has released a new fragrance. But now under the helm of chief creative officer Raf Simons, the fashion house is returning to creating iconic scents with the July launch of a new scent, simply called Women. Simons joined Calvin Klein in August 2016 and famously thanked ‘women’ when accepting his Womenswear Designer of the Year honor – his second in two years – at June’s CFDA Awards. Now, he’s making a new mark on the label, collaborating on his first fragrance.

Immediately when I arrived, I looked closely at the various fragrances in the portfolio because it was important for me to continue the stories they captured, which were all iconic and meaningful moments. It became clear very early on that we should create a new fragrance and a new chapter to the story.

To do so, Simons asked perfumers Honorine Blanc and Annick Menardo. They combined Eucalyptus acorns, Alaskan cedarwood and orange blossom to create a ‘woody floral with notes of orange flower and lemon pepper’. It’s an easy, soft, and citrusy/fresh spicy perfume. Calvin Klein Women is a sophisticated scent that has a modern and youthful aroma. This new perfume is created for women who love to look real, to be happy, to have pure emotions and sensations.

To promote the new scent, Simons recruited very talented women; Academy Award-winning actor Lupita Nyong’o and three-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan are the faces of Calvin Klein Women’s campaign, photographed by visual artist Anne Collier, who also co-created the packaging with perfume bottle designer Suzanne Dalton (Collier’s photograph of a woman’s eye is superimposed on the disc-like cap).
