Houbigant Bois Mystique

Houbigant-Boutique-Paris-min

Houbigant is a French perfume house established in 1775 by Jean-François Houbigant (1752 – 1807) launched his perfume business at 19, Foubourg Saint Honoré, Paris. Named ‘A la Corbeille de Fleurs’ (The Flower Basket), the shop originally sold wig powder, perfume, pomade, fans and gloves.

An early client was Queen Marie Antoinette, and patronage by various royal families continued throughout the nineteenth century (Empress Joséphine, Emperor Napoleon, King Louis XV, Madame du Barry, Queen Marie of Romania, Queen Victoria). The legend has it that when Marie Antoinette was fleeing to Varennes to escape the French revolutionaries she was recognised as royalty because of her Houbigant perfume, which only royalty could afford.

With over four centuries of artisanship and craftsmanship under its belt, The French Maison is the only heritage perfume house continuously in production to this day. Quality counts, as does experience: Houbigant fragrances are superbly crafted, with an exquisite attention to detail that comes only from the act of practicing a single art over centuries. Houbigant’s Fougere Royale, for example, was the first fragrance of its genre and continues to be the standard setter in the fragrance world to date and Quelques Fleurs L’Original that was created in 1912 and was one of the first pure floral fragrances.

By the late 1920s, Houbigant had a base in New York, United States, and was selling its fine face powders in compacts. Compacts featuring Houbigant’s flower basket logo and vanities with abstract Deco designs are highly collectible.

Now French Maison Houbigant launches a new perfume for men, Bois Mystique. Bois Mystique is a modern and elegant fragrance, a worthy inheritor of this glorious heritage. What can be more thrilling than to emanate a mystical and intriguing aroma, truly masculine and woody. I adore masculine fragrances, they smell very strong, intense, and rich woody. The new perfume, Houbigant Bois Mystique is a pure example of a timeless elegant and at the same time very sensual.

Created by perfumer Luca Maffei, Houbigant Bois Mystique opens with a bracingly sour, juicy bergamot – a flash of the Italian sunshine – before warming it up with a hot ginger note that will have you licking your lips. A boozy, herbal davana note lends the cedarwood at the core an intense richness that recalls Port wine, leather saddles, and all sorts of sensual autumn aromas. A note of fresh, piney frankincense and bitter wormwood shimmers over ambery resins and the dried-grass note of papyrus, lending the scent a somewhat austere but mysterious character. At the heart of it all, a green cardamom note vibrates, sending out shockwaves of something both cool-watery and hot-spicy. A spice-laden delight that’s so light it seems to float on a wisp of smoke, this is spice done right.

Very feminine Houbigant Quelques Fleurs Collection Privée

French Maison Houbigant was founded in 1775 by Jean-François Houbigant. The modest boutique was located at no.19 Rue de Foubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris, and was named ‘A la Corbeille de Fleurs’ (At the flower basket). His first products were toilet waters, powders, pomade, fans and scented gloves. Since 1872 most of the products of the French Maison were sold to the French aristocracy, nobility, clergy and the best known names in France.

Among Maison Houbigants most famous clients was Queen Marie Antoinette, who reportedly hurried to Houbigant to get her perfume flacons refilled with Eau de Mousseline and Eau de Millefleurs before fleeing from Paris.

Today Houbigant is presenting the luxury collection Quelques Fleurs Collection Privée, which inc;udes three fragrances in higher concentration than Eau de Parfum (a 28% concentration). As the perfume house announced, the notes of the compositions of the three famous editions Quelques Fleurs L’Orginal, Quelques Fleurs Jardin Secret and Quelques Fleurs Royale remain the same, while the concentration is changed, which is between Eau de Parfum and Extrait now.

Houbigant Quelques Fleurs L’Orginal Collection Privée

Houbigant-Quelques-Fleurs-L'Orginal-Collection-Privée.jpg

Created by Robert Biename Fleurs L’Orginal Collection Privée is launched as the iconic flowery composition of 1913 and offers the ‘classic’ timeless floral bouquet of intense aromas highlighted with a green and grassy opening, and finished with a dominantly oriental – animalic base. The rich flowery heart notes include the feminin, intoxicating flowers of rose, jasmine, tuberose, broom and ylang-ylang, to which a spicy blend of carnationand cloves is added.

Houbigant Quelques Fleurs Jardin Secret Collection Privée

Quelques Fleurs Jardin Secret Collection Privée, belonging to the new, luxurious Collection Privée, was built with a floral, woody, musky blend, composed by perfumer Luca Maffei. The fragrance was originally launched in 2017, as an Eau de Parfum in vertical flacons of glass with an elegant floral motif.

The composition opens with sunkissed citruses and neroli, which are overturned by a beautiful floral heart in which a bouquet of whith flowers, rose and ylang-ylang is touched by the noble, powdery elegance of orris. The base is warm musky and mildly spicy.

Houbigant Quelques Fleurs Royale Collection Privée

Houbigant-Quelques-Fleurs-Royale-Collection-Privée.jpg

Quelques Fleurs Royale Collection Privée offers a challenging blend of floral notes of tuberose, jasmine and rose in a hug of delicate gourmand honey notes. The sparkling citrus gives freshness and brightness to the flowery bouquet, while the powdery finish framed by musk offers elegance and sophistication.

The shape of these lovely designed flacons repeats the one of the perfume extrait launced in 2017, Quelques Fleurs Jardin Secret Extrait. The flacons reliëfs on the glass are so elegant, while the satin around the necks of the flacons give a special touch to each edition.

The Houbigant Quelques Fleurs Collection Privée is available as 100ml at selected stores. Come into the wonderful world of Houbigant.

Houbigant Cologne Intense

The creations of Maison Houbigant, with only the finest ingredients, perpetuate the tradition of the Cologne originale. It is a precious Cologne with a conventional structure enriched by modern elements. Jean-Marie Farina, creator of the original cologne at the start of the 18th century, described it as:

A spring morning after the rain: it reminisces of oranges, lemons, grapefruit, bergamot, cedarwood, flowers and herbs of my land, it refreshes and stimulates one’s senses and imagination.

Light, Fresh, Discreet, Delicate, Cologne is associated to the idea of scented water. The name evokes other suggestions, sun, sea, lavender fields, citrus groves. Exactly what its inventor, Jean- Marie Farina, had in mind when he began marketing the first bottles of his aqua mirabilis, three hundred years ago, in 1709.

Houbigant Cologne Intense Eau de Parfum EDP Men

Houbigant Cologne Intense, the bottle recreates the unique though by René Lalique in the early 20th century for Maison Houbigant (Click photo to enlarge).

The name ‘Eau de Cologne’ (Water from Cologne) was given by the soldiers of Louis XV who brought back this incredible perfume from the city of Cologne during the ‘Seven years war’ and introduced it to the Royal court of France.

Cologne has become a generic term, but the original formula is only one, which has bewitched distinguished clients from every era: Charles VI, Louis XV of France, Frederick William Ist of Prussia, Napoleon Bonaparte, Mark Twain, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Konrad Adenauer, Indira Gandhi, Romy Schneider, Begum Andrée Aga Khan, Begum Om Habibeh Aga Khan and Princess Diana. The Cologne of House of Houbigant is true to the original formula and uses only the world best raw materials available. The bottle recreates the unique though by René Lalique in the early 20th century for Maison Houbigant.

Hairy Muscle

Cologne Intense is a modern interpretation of the Eau de Cologne. An olfactory journey from past to future that immediately conquers the senses with its refined freshness. The scent starts on sunny citrus notes of Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian lemon with green highlights of Petit Grain from Paraguay and bright notes of Neroli from Morocco. Then aromatic top notes of lavender and tarragon and spicy notes of pink pepper. Inside the floral heart blooms a beautiful Indian jasmine, wrapped in precious incense and Maté essences. The intense and deep notes of patchouli and oak moss are warmed by the labdanum and amber. The composition is made complete by a precious musk which give a deep, lasting and unusual power to the Cologne.

Houbigant Cologne Intense Extrait Men

A pure Perfume Extract version of The Cologne made using only the world best raw materials available true to the original Cologne essence formula (Click photo to enlarge).

Perfumes extracts are the most precious declination of fragrances. Extracts are the ultimate form of a perfume, they are more sophisticated, long lasting, and every facet is in greater harmony. The common belief is that Extracts are heavier, however it is the opposite, the concentration helps the precious oils to evaporate more gradually and to last longer. The perfume extract should be the star of a perfume line and not an ancillary only to be used sparingly. The House of Houbigant has always believed the use of the extract is the best way to wear a fragrance and now offers a more comfortable way of using it. The Cologne is an olfactory journey from past to future that immediately conquers the senses  with its refined freshness.

The fragrance opens with sunny citrus notes of Calabrian Bergamot and Sicily Lemon, with green hints of Petit Grain  from Paraguay and bright hints of Neroli from Morocco.

The top of the fragrance is highlighted by aromatic notes of Lavender and Estragon and spicy notes of Pink Pepper.

Into the heart blooms a superb Indian Jasmin enveloped by the preciosity of Incense and Mate’ essences.

An amazing beautiful manly scent. Especially for those who love Thierry Mugler Cologne, Armani Pour Homme, Chanel Pour Monsieur, Christian Dior Eau Sauvage. Even if you like the more ‘spicy’ fragrances like me, it is a ‘must have’ for the relaxing days. You can’t go wrong with this one! And for some of you…. hide it for your girlfriend or wife…

Every holiday season it’s a suprise wich brand brings us what.  Great are the, mostly limited edition, cremer solid perfumes. They come in the most fantastic shapes, sometimes like a Fabergé egg or a small compact powder, as a charm or pill box. But always they turn out to be true collecors items. Famous are the ones from Estée Lauder almost every year.

Discover a flawless new Jewel in the ‘House of Houbigant’ Crown, Houbigant Iris des Champs, a regal oriental-floral fragrance for her.

As the Iris, (or Lily) is the symbol of Royalty in France, it is beautifully fitting that the House of Houbigant, with strong historical aristocratic origins, pay homage to the Iris with this captivating and sensual woman’s scent. Inspired by Paul Parquet, the House of Houbigant undertook the formulating of this luxurious and enticing women’s fragrance with a very unique approach.
Paul Parquet said of his scent based on his idea of how Fern leaves ought to smell, “if God gave ferns a smell, they would smell like Fougère Royale”. This perfume development of Iris des Champs is the result of a collaboration between the House of Houbigant and Mathieu Nardin, perfumer at Robertet.

The extraction process for the Iris is long and delicate. As the bounty of the Iris derives from the Rhizomes, or root, of the plant which is rich, unique and fragrant, where the flower itself is largely odourless; they set out to create something truly special – their vision of how the Iris Lily should smell. What Paul Parquet did for the Fern with Fougère Royale, Maison Houbigant has done for the precious Iris with the exquisite Iris des Champs.

Redolent of a blossoming iris field in Tuscany on a beautiful spring day, this elegant and stylish scent that withholds a sacred legacy of royalty from its main note of precious Iris, the symbol of aristocracy in France. The perfect accompaniment to a modern–day queen with an alluring presence, this unique composition compliments her individuality and flare with its compelling and alluring scent.

Nobile notes of Lily of the valley and bergamot reign over the floral heart of iris, rose and jasmine, while the dominant base notes of sandalwood, amber and vanilla crown this oriental composition with a glorious dry down.
