Hublot Big Bang Unico in a summery Sky Blue

The Sky’s the Limit. The Big Bang Unico Sky Blue brings together three classic Hublot elements – the iconic Big Bang model, its Unico manufacture movement and ceramic, the Swiss watch luxury watchmaker’s material of choice.

Here comes the summer! As the world’s most popular colour, blue symbolises new horizons, kindles a desire to get away and inspires new avenues for exploration. Fly the colours of the Big Bang Unico Sky Blue 42 mm on your wrist. A shimmering sky lends a light, playful hint of freedom to the ceramic of the case.

Ceramic, a material in which Hublot has become an expert. In 2019, Hublot created brightly coloured ceramic in a patented world first. Since then, the brand has had almost every Pantone colour at its disposal. The Big Bang Unico Sky Blue has turned this feat of innovation into your new go-to material.

The dial, like a cloudless sky, reveals the column wheel of the HUB1280 manufacture calibre, a self-winding chronograph movement with a 72-hour power reserve. As its Unico manufacture movement gently tracks the easy passage of time, the Big Bang Unico Sky Blue evokes a sense of brightness and timelessness.

The white luminescent hands and indices, which appear suspended, mark the hours spent in joyous reunions. The brand’s six iconic screws stand out against the blue of the bezel, which is also made from polished and satin-finished ceramic. Developed using the brand’s unique processes to produce this exclusive colour and unrivalled comfort, this high-tech material is hypoallergenic and adapts to the temperature of the skin.

Lightweight and ultra-resistant to oxidation and scratching, it is the perfect companion for all your summer activities. The new Summer edition of the Big Bang Unico comes with a Velcro strap with sports fastener, as well as its iconic lined natural rubber version with a titanium deployant buckle for those long evenings under the stars.

The dream of possessing our own little corner of blue sky is universal! This limited edition of just 200 pieces will be available for € 24.900, from the e-boutique and at the Maison’s 130 points of sale located in some of the world’s most iconic and exclusive cities.

Hublot Cooks Up A Treat With Damascus Steel Big Bang Unico Gourmet

Swiss watchmaker Hublot has entered the kitchen with a limited edition watch made from the uniquely patterned steel favored for knifes by the world’s top chefs.

Hublot have discovered their next gimmick by using Damascus Steel on their newest Big Bang Unico. It’s a uniquely patterned steel that many top chefs favour as it’s both hard and flexible whilst maintaining a sharp edge. So is this Big Bang sharp? Well… it’s a Big Bang.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Gourmet is a 200-piece limited edition with a case and bezel made from Damascus Steel, which displays each and every one of the folds that make for some of the most resilient steel on the planet, used by armorers and swordsmiths for centuries and now adopted for the best chef’s knives.

For the launch of the watch in Paris, Hublot tasked Anne-Sophie Pic & Yannick Alléno – two of its Michelin-starred associates – to create a dinner befitting the watch for 100 guests.

Technically, Damascus Steel doesn’t really exist anymore, as the technique to make the original Damascus Steel (which also didn’t originate from Damascus) has been lost to time. Today, Damascus Steel is the widely accepted term to describe modern pattern-welded steel blades. And to be fair, Hublot do mention this on their website.

Rather than being in the Syrian capital where the technique originated in 300BC, the steel used for the Hublot Big Bang Unico Gourmet is made in Sweden by Damasteel, a folded and hammered mix of 304L and 316L alloys, creating a pattern that is unique in each use.

The Unico 2 caliber was designed to equip smaller chronographs and also open the world of Hublot to new enthusiasts. It retains the unique design of its former version with a double coupling system visible from the dial side as well as a 72-hour power reserve. But thanks to various technical optimizations, including the introduction of a new, flatter automatic winding system, it has been reduced by 1.3 mm in thickness.

The culinary theme continues on the velcro-fastened strap, which is cut from the fabric of chef’s aprons.

Despite this being a 200-piece limited edition release, Hublot aren’t jacking up the price too much for the simple inclusion of fancy steel. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Gourmet is available now at Hublt boutiques and selected stores worldwide, priced €25.200. Come into the beautiful and timeless world of Hublot.

Hublot: Time To Reflect

Hublot, which means ‘porthole’ in French, was founded in 1980 by Italian entrepreneur Carlo Crocco. Given his passion for sailing, Mr. Crocco wanted a watch which was durable, yet luxurious: The ‘Classic Original’ was thus born. For the first time in watchmaking history, the oldest precious metal, gold, and a modern material, rubber, were combined, creating a new definition of luxury and inspiring Hublot’s philosophy, The Art Of Fushion.

Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto

Yoji-Yamamoto-news-gallery-210

In May 2020, Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot will celebrate the grand opening of its new flagship Boutique on Chuo-dori Street in Ginza, Tokyo. To celebrate this important milestone, the watchmaker has collaborated with the renowned fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto to release the limited edition Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto.

We are honored to celebrate the opening of our new flagship Boutique in Tokyo with fashion designer super star Yohji Yamamoto. This All Black limited edition we created together expresses a simple beauty through the fusion of Yohji Yamamoto’s black design signature and the complicated GMT manufacture movement.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO Hublot

The world famous avant-garde fashion designer and master tailor Yohji Yamamoto, known for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics and for having created ‘the Shock of Black’, which shattered preconceptions of traditional tailoring, collaborated with Hublot to develop this exclusive timepiece.

Yohji Yamamoto

Born from duality, the timepiece displays two different time zones through its GMT feature. At the heart of the timepiece, the Hublot Unico manufacture movement HUB1251 is equipped with a patented proprietary module which enables the second time zone to be updated instantly by a push-button, allowing the local time to be read easily via the conventional main hand of the watch.

This watch can easily display the time zones of the two cities where I’m based, Tokyo and Paris. Moreover, the hours are invisible. As a person who isn’t always forthcoming, I find that highly amusing. I’m pleased to have taken part in the creation of this model to celebrate the opening of Hublot Boutique in Ginza, a unique, famous and iconic neighborhood of Japan.

Yohji Yamamoto, fashion designer

The time at home is indicated using a second arrow-shaped hour hand, which integrates a day/night indicator and is set using the crown. True to the All Black concept, tone on tone, the personal signature of Yohji Yamamoto can be discovered at six o’clock.

Yoji-Yamamoto-news-gallery-220

In 2006, with its All Black collection, Hublot launched a brand-new and pioneering concept: ‘Invisible visibility’. The all-black design of this new limited edition expresses a philosophy symbolising the very essence of the brand.

Literally, the model is completely black; it has a black case made of micro-blasted black ceramic, black hands, a black dial, and a black rubber strap. Even the sapphire crystal is made of smoked sapphire.

Yoji-Yamamoto-news-gallery-240Limited to 50 pieces, the Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto will exclusively be available at the Hublot Boutique Ginza. Come into the timeless world of Hublot.

Art that changes every second: the extraordinary collaboration between Hublot and Carlos Cruz-Diez

Hublot-CF_CruzDiez_Gold.png

The last project of the deceased Franco-Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez strengthens once more the connection between art and watchmaking. The new Classic Fusion Cruz-Diez is characterized by a variety of colors and ever-changing color combinations.

Everything that is created by passion lasts forever.

Beyond the purely visual effect, the horological colour composition changes and evolves with the passing of the hours, minutes and seconds, mirroring other works by the late artist – a well-known figure in the world of kinetic art. Parallel discs rotate in sequence in a masterstroke of technical ingenuity from Hublot. The timepiece was launched on 5th December at the Espace Expression gallery in Miami, in the presence of the artist’s family.

Hublot-Ricardo Guadalupe, Mariana Cruz, Carlitos Cruz_jpeg.jpg

Considered one of the twentieth century’s greatest colour theorists, Carlos Cruz-Diez concluded from his analysis that colour represents ‘an ephemeral, autonomous and ever evolving reality’. This led us to design the dial on two levels treated in saturated Pantone colours, with the hour hand on the first level and the minute hand on the second, each driving the rotation of a transparent disc featuring printed black lines.

Hublot-CF_CruzDiez_Titanium_45mm_511_NX_8900_VR_jpeg

We are very excited to present this project. It is the culmination of developments made since our first collaboration with Carlos Cruz-Diez in 2015, and a tribute to his work. Kinetic art is a disruptive art form that places the spectator’s perception at the centre of the piece in order to question the purpose and status of a work of art. Together, we have created a working piece of art that can be worn on the wrist.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO Hublot

This system causes the pattern of colours to evolve every second over a 24-hour period. The piece – very much designed to be worn – also features the artist’s metallic signature on the case- back. The calfskin leather strap and the box extend the optical experience in pursuit of an eternal present.

Hublot-CF_CruzDiez_Collection.jpgThe Classic Fusion Cruz-Diez is available with two case sizes (45 mm and 38 mm) in a choice of three materials: 100 and 25 titanium pieces, 30 and 20 King Gold pieces and 100 and 25 black ceramic pieces respectively.

As Carlos Cruz-Diez said himself, “Color is light, time and space. Color is not in the past, it is a continuous present”. This timekeeping piece of art holds that truth within.

Hublot continues its Mediterranean tour

Hublot-Ibiza-Pop-Up-Boutique

After Mykonos, Capri and Porto Cervo, Hublot conquers yet another gem of the Mediterranean with the opening of a pop-up boutique this time in Ibiza.

Hublot conquered a Mediterranean jewel yesterday, inaugurating a pop-up boutique on Ibiza for the summer. Guests enjoyed a taster of the holidays on the Marina in the presence of Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of the House. It was also an opportunity to unveil the Classic Fusion Chronograph Ibiza, an innovative watch in blue ceramic that draws its creative inspiration from the island, its festive nature and its symbolism. A horological dedication to the enchantment of Ibiza, and a way to treat yourself to celebrate the summer.

Modern and authentic, traditional and cosmopolitan, bohemian and chic; Ibiza is alluring and overflowing with dualities. These dichotomies inspired us to make a chronograph that is at once very simple and very refined, thanks to its rubber and alligator strap. A way of celebrating the summer, which is synonymous with fun and freedom.

Ricardo Guadalupe

Ibiza the white island; like its immaculate traditional fincas, stands out against the pure azure sky and overlooks the crystal-clear blue sea. This Mediterranean pearl, imbued with bohemian nonchalance, harbours elegant, intimate places and radiates the festive atmosphere of the season.
