Johnny Depp signs new $20 million USD Dior Sauvage deal

French Maison Dior has officially extended its partnership with actor Johnny Depp. The LVMH-owned French luxury house has resigned a new three-year $20 million USD deal with Depp for Dior Sauvage. This makes it the largest male fragrance deal ever signed.

According to Variety, Depp’s Dior Sauvage deal eclipses Robert Pattinson’s $12 million USD Dior Homme deal and Brad Pitt’s $7 million USD Chanel No.5 deal (one short clip, and one photoshoot). Depp has fronted the Sauvage fragrance since its launch in 2015. Dior’s move to continue its partnership with Depp comes after the Maison gained much scrutiny for supporting the actor after a U.K. court ruled against him in his 2020 libel suit from his ex-wife Amber Heard. Since then, Depp has prevailed after he won the defamation trial against Heard. Following the win, Dior Sauvage sales reportedly skyrocketed with Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH citing that the “image of Johhny Depp” is one of the main reasons that the fragrance has become “a remarkable success”.

The announcement of the Dior deal comes just as Depp is expected to be at Cannes Film Festival for the May 16 world premiere of Maïwenn’s historical drama ‘Jeanne du Barry’, where he plays King Louis XV. He will also be attending a Dior dinner on May 17 prior to heading to London for a Jeff Beck tribute the following day, where he will perform alongside Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart. With the new deal between Dior and Depp, it appears that the French luxury Maison is not quite ready to give up on their relationship just yet.

Johnny Depp as Christian Dior’s ‘Sauvage’ man

Johnny Depp has been announced as a new face for a Dior fragrance making his first ever fragrance ad. The American actor is set to front a yet to be named fragrance to be released on September 1st 2015 for the luxury brand.

Dior declined to say how much the contract was worth, but it has pockets deep enough to afford him while also paying Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron to endorse its products. Depp, ranked among the top-paid actors in Hollywood, has amassed an estimated fortune of $250 million, much of it thanks to the “Pirates” movie franchise, the latest of which he is currently filming in Australia.

Now we have to wait ’till September. So we know how mister Depp is ‘smelling’…..
