Lalique de Lalique Hirondelles Crystal Edition, the new ultimate luxury, was created as the limited edition for 2020 of the precious composition Lalique de Lalique by the talented perfumer Sophie Grojsman. Each year French Maison Lalique amazes us with a new crystal flacon designed to honor the grand works of Rene Lalique, but also to celebrate the birth of the first Lalique fragrance from 1992. initiated by Marie Claude Lalique, the granddaughter of René Lalique.

Since 1994, Limited, signed and numbered editions of Collector’s Crystal Flacons have become an annual event. Initially dedicated to feminine perfumes, these prestigious editions were subsequently joined by their male counterparts in 1997.

The beauty of the first fragrance, Lalique de Lalique, is now celebrated again by the elegant and majestic craft of Lalique design with thee special, crystal flacons especially made for the 100th anniversary of Villa René Lalique. The Lalique Hirondelles Flacon is the newest object of desire that Lalique has presented in 2020. It is filled with Lalique de Lalique pure perfume, available in limited number.

René Lalique started to build the Villa in 1920 and chose to live there with his family during his stays in Alsace. Having been transformed into a five-star hotel with a restaurant with two Michelin stars, it has become a showcase for Lalique’s craftsmanship and flair, a heartfelt tribute to French Art de Vivre.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of this mansion, the Hirondelles perfume flacon, designed by René Lalique in 1920, is re-issued in sapphire blue crystal, the colour of purity and freedom, for a Limited and Numbered Collector Edition of 100 pieces..

Through his work, René Lalique explored the decorative possibilities of flora, fauna and the female form. Among fauna, the swallow particularly inspired him, which he then made the centrepiece of many jewels and decorative objects. Herald of spring, symbol of happiness and freedom, the satin-finished swallows flutter gracefully on the tiara adorning the flacon. The precision of the design echoes the brilliance of crystal, fashioned by the hand of the artisans from the crystal factory

This Limited Edition required all the know-how of the Lalique artisans. With precision choreography, four glass-masters gather the molten crystal, to fashion the body of the flacon using the technique of ‘Soufflé’. Appearing in 1913, the majestic tiara stoppers are a Lalique signature par excellence. Shaped by five glass-masters using the technique of ‘Pressé’, each stopper is cut, satin-finished and polished by hand for several hours.

 

The flacon is then numbered, signed “Lalique France“ and engraved with the anniversary logo of the Villa René Lalique. Once filled with perfume, the flacon is sealed with a baudruchage and a gold thread around the collar. A pale gold coffret stamped with the swallow motif houses this prestigious Limited Edition.

Each flacon contains the Lalique de Lalique Perfume, a floral, feminine and radiant fragrance. In a silken swirl of fruity rose, heady jasmine and spicy clove flower, a cloud of delicately powdered iris suffuses the composition. In the heart notes, the fluttering, feminine bouquet is brightened with playful notes, vibrant green blackcurrant leaf lacing suave pear and sweetly musky blackberry. The fruity floral sillage then subsides into a blend of vanilla, sandalwood and white musk, as delicate as a flight of swallows.

For the precious 2015 Limited Edition crystal perfume bottle, it is from the work of René Lalique that Lalique has drawn motifs inspired by the gracefulness of birds…

Designed in 1910, the ‘Petites Feuilles’ (‘Little Leaves’) bottle belongs to a series of dazzlingly virtuosic models, entirely covered with complex, delicate decorative motifs.

Its streamlined shape is based on the Greek alabastron, used in antiquity to conserve scents and originally sculpted in alabaster, hence its name. While the original features tiny rosemary leaves, the 2015 Edition is adorned with a lavish plumage which covers the body and softly rounded shoulders of the bottle. The bottle’s shape, so reminiscent of the curved silhouette of turtledoves, is echoed in the stopper’s motif, designed by René Lalique for the lid of the ‘Geneviève’ powder box in 1920. Two of these birds, which stand for constancy and harmony since they mate for life, adorn the heart of a rosette formed by delicately ribbed palm leaves. An elegant theme inspired by Ancient Egypt, where palm trees were symbols of fertility.

This new Limited Edition expresses Lalique’s peerless know-how and exacting standards. No fewer than four master glassmakers are needed to fashion the bottle, using the handcrafted hot mould technique. Taken up at 1150°C, the crystal is formed in a wooden shaping block before being placed into a cast-iron mould heated to 400°C and annealed for seven hours. To make the stopper, the ‘pressed’ technique requires five glassmakers.

In the ‘Plume’ bottle, the crystal is distributed to form a very thick bottom weighing 350 grams. The cutting and polishing is performed once the bottle is cold. Its motifs are polished and sandblasted. To adjust the stopper’s fit, it is paired with its bottle and ground with emery to ensure a leak-proof finish. As a final touch to this handcrafted piece, the baudruchage seal and gold thread are added to the signed and numbered bottle.
