MAC: Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation

MAC Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation Makeup

I have to admit that I’m not a big fan of MAC. I’m sorry! They have amazing lipsticks and eye shadows! They have a great range of products and real beautiful colors. But somehow, I don’t like their primers and their foundation textures. I worked with them a couple of times, but it’s not my ‘thing’.

But….! Last month, M∙A∙C introduced Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation, an innovative foundation that delivers colour in an ultra-fluid, elegantly thin, elastic gel serum formula. With stay-true colour and sheer medium buildable coverage, it softly blurs imperfections such as pores and fine lines.

Are you looking for a foundation that’s feather light? Then give MAC’s new Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation a try. The comfortable, and easy to apply gel-serum formula is hydrating and provides lasting coverage without feeling heavy on skin.

It blurs pores and fine lines while giving sheer medium coverage that you can build. The dropper bottle allows you to use just the amount that you need. Pair it with the 196 Slanted Flat Top Foundation Brush for perfect application. Another positive thing is: it has an SPF 30! For some people that’s great news, such a ‘high’ SPF you don’t see that often in a makeup product. The new Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation is availble in 25 shades! I have to admit: I have a MAC favorite!

MAC Makeup Studio Opens In New York

MAC is once again proving its position as a pioneer in the beauty sector, debuting the brand’s first ever Makeup studio, located in New York City. Fittingly housed in Manhattan’s chic Upper East Side, the studio offers clients a personalised beauty experience with one of the company’s talented makeup artists.

The space is centred on application, rather than retail, although the brand’s full product range is available, just marketed more discreetly than your regular store.

The Studio’s space is very intimate and allows for the relationship between artist and consumer to flourish in a way that a classic retail space may not typically allow.

Karen Buglisi Weiler, Global Brand President of MAC Cosmetics

The décor is built on five oversized face charts that flank the store, paired with six makeup stations in the middle of the space, each equipped with an iPad that features the Studio’s full menu of services, based on MAC’s most requested looks, inspirational aesthetics and the brand’s new booking tool. Two private makeup rooms are also available.

The studio has been constructed to imitate the feel of a salon, with a blend of cool and warm lighting tones that evoke the feel of natural light, and traditionally salon-specific extras, such as a concierge, café services and charging stations.

Artistry and individuality are at the core of the Studio and the MAC culture. This store concept offers customers to celebrate their individuality with the guide of our trusted makeup artists.

Gordon Espinet, Senior Vice President of Makeup Artistry, MAC Cosmetics

The studio menu is comprised of both full-face applications and lessons, or shorter Focus Features, which pertain to just one area of the face. Each service is customisable to the client’s preferred products and shades. The new 950-square-foot space studio offers everything from makeovers and tutorials to beauty parties and bridal looks, and the prices are reasonable. Tutorials start at $30.00 while make applications (such as contouring, winged liner or a full face) start at $15.00.

As for MAC products, they will be available, however the location is really dedicated to the art of makeup application and tuition. This isn’t a place full of sales assistants pushing products, this is an intimate studio that gives customers one-to-one time with a highly skilled MAC Makeup Artist.

The newest innovation from one of the most prominent forces in the makeup realm, MAC’s first ever studio merges technology, artistry and that intangible salon quality to become an irresistible new feature of Manhattan.

The MAC Makeup Studio can be found at 825 Lexington Avenue (at 63rd street). Bookings can be made online at

MAC Cosmetics x Giambattista Valli Lipstick Collection

I love sharing news of fab new MAC Cosmetics partnerships and product launches and I’m totes excited to give you the tea on the brand’s latest drool-worthy collaboration with the luxurious Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli!

MAC is always pushing the envelope when it comes to really giving us something to look forward to with their fashion-forward product lines, and they are giving us all kinds of aesthetic goodness with five new matte shades.

I started working with MAC almost 10 years ago and since the beginning they understood and supported my vision as a designer. To celebrate this long standing relationship we thought it would be great to create a collection that was one-of-a-kind, more of a collector’s edition! I’m known for my dresses and with this collection you can dress your lips in Giambattista Valli.

Giambattista Valli

The colors range from soft pink to a deep cherry shade and I need every one of them in my life!

MAC Cosmetics x Giambattista Valli Bianca B is a pale white-pink matte shade.

MAC Cosmetics x Giambattista Valli Tats is a bright hot pink matte shade.

($23.00 US / $27.50 CAD). You can also use the gloss on your eyelids for high-fashion runway-ready look!

These pretty designer shades will be availble soon in stores from July 9

The MAC x Guo Pei collection

You can always count on MAC for a knock-out collaboration. This season, the makeup connoisseurs have teamed up with Guo Pei. One of the biggest names in China’s fashion scene – if you’re unfamiliar with the name, think again. Remember Rihanna’s impressive Met Gala dress this year? Two years in the making (by hand, may we add), the yellow masterpiece – that prompted many a bad-taste meme – was made by none other than Pei.

Teaming up with the Chinese couturier, MAC present a collection of jewel-tones and neutral colour-ways punctuated by deep graphite, inspired by Pei’s ‘Garden of the Soul’. The packaging deserves a special mention – with each product encased in exotic floral-illustrated fabric, the MAC x Guo Pei collection is one to show off in the powder room.

The MAC x Guo Pei collection will be on sale exclusively in Fenwick of Bond Street, Harrods, Selfridges and from October 1.

Prabal Gurung’s cosmetics line is revealed

Prabal Gurung x MAC.jpg

As fashion designer Prabal Gurung prepares his last pieces for the season, he also shows off his first cosmetics line – the initial step in building his namesake beauty business.

Born in Singapore and raised in Nepal, 35-year-old Gurung can still remember his mother’s cosmetics case in his early years, and talks fondly of saving her compacts after she’d finished with them.

My love of fashion and beauty began when I was a kid. It was my comfort, my escape. I didn’t know the beauty brands or the big designers when I was really young, but I was fascinated by the packaging and the beautiful boxes. It was almost magical. I’d see my mom come home from work and put on all this make up and it would be a total transformation happening, and [I saw] the confidence that came with that.

Prabal Gurung

A collaboration with the ever-happy to oblige MAC Cosmetics, Prabal Gurung’s 14-piece collection will launch on November 26 in MAC stores in the U.S. – and in December in all of the brand’s international stores (except China).

All those in attendance of the designer’s SS15 show on September 6 will also get an exclusive preview.

The mother-daughter duo come together to create an ‘essential’ limited edition collection for MAC Cosmetics that will be available worldwide.

When news broke that Sharon and Kelly Osbourne were collaborating with MAC Cosmetics, we thought: purple (because of Kelly’s lavender locks of course)! While there is some of the hue involved in the collaboration, it’s much more than pastels. Kelly has curated a group of youthful and fun shades, while her mother Sharon stuck to the colour classics.

From an early age, Kelly Osbourne had an appreciation for make-up, “The first thing Kelly stole from me was a lipstick,” says Sharon. Today, they have turned their mutual love into a profession, combining forces to develop products for the make-up industry’s most sought after brand.

You have to love yourself and be comfortable with yourself. And when you can’t accept yourself for who you are, no matter how hard you try – I tried real hard – you’re never going to wake up and be anyone else. Beauty comes from within, and you have to be confident. When you are confident, it becomes infectious. That’s something my mother has always instilled in me

With those thoughts in mind, they do have an understanding that physical enhancements won’t do any harm. Therefore, their collection consists of components that cater to enhancing facial features with a focus on contouring products created by Sharon, and a little more playful from Kelly’s side, with a ‘Spoonful of Sugar’ eye shadow quad, and ‘Kelly Yum-Yum’ lipstick; a product inspired by Kelly’s favoured MAC product. The collection will also include lip pencils and a flat buffer brush, and will be available across all MAC locations and online.

Marisa Berenson, Jerry Hall and Pat Cleveland for MAC’s New Fall Makeup Collection

Supermodels Marisa Berenson, Jerry Hall, and Pat Cleveland recently reconvened, not in some type of seventies showdown, but in celebration of MAC Cosmetics upcoming makeup collection, which pays homage to fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez. Known as ‘Antonio’s Girls’, the three women were often painted by the celebrated artist for work featured in Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue during the disco era. Lopez is even credited with discovering Hall…..

His artwork influenced the entire fashion industry, and cemented ’60s, ’70s and most notably the ’80s style in our minds. In honor of his memory and his stamp on the world, MAC will translate some of Lopez’s iconic works into a limited edition collection.

The collection will include two face palettes centered on rich shades of pink and coral. The Antonio Lopez Coral Face Palette includes the gold and pink pearlized iridescent aptly named ‘Star’; a coral blush ‘Passion for Color’; and ‘Smooth Harmony’, a mid-level golden bronze powder. As for The Antonio Lopez Pink Face Palette, a bronze iridescent powder, ‘Belighful; a blue-based blush named ‘Pure Femininity’; and ‘Peaceful’ a peach powder.

There was a magic to his world and a time in history that hasn’t been recaptured; I think people are lusting after that glamour, which is difficult to come by today.

To update the look, the makeup powerhouse has selected six of his drawings and emblazoned them on lip, eye, and face palettes, plus makeup bags and accessories. “Our collection with Antonio Lopez is symbolic of a time when indulgence was at its peak,” explains James Gager, creative director of MAC Cosmetics. It all drops in September, but click ahead for a sneak peek.
