Bubble bar

French champagne house Moët & Chandon has opened its largest champagne bar in Europe this week. Harrods department store in London serves the full selection of champagnes from the Moët Imperial e Moët Ice to the grand vintage champagnes, champagne cocktails and a matching menu of ‘bites’. If you need another excuse to go shopping in London, now you have it!

This stylish bar is located on the ground floor of the world-famous Harrods department store. Absolutely fabulous to settle down with your shopping bags and catch your breath with a wildly sparkling glass of bubbly.

Champagne bars are the trend of the moment. No wonder, because champagne has never been so popular before. And what could be better than enjoying a moment in an environment that is all about this bubble. In Amsterdam you can now visit ‘The Champagne Room’ and the new ‘Bar du Champagne’ on the Rokin.

World cities such as London have had champagne bars for years, for example in luxury department stores. Because real shopping includes a glass of bubbly. But never before as big as Harrods’ new Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar. This is also the first permanent champagne bar of this house in Europe.

Moët & Chandon has served the royal courts of France under Louis XV, walked the red carpets of Hollywood, toasted the Grand Slams of the world, lit Studio 54, attended every Fashion Week, rejoiced with every milestone of the Queen, and to this is added Harrods department store: an iconic London destination with its doors open to all.

The bar seats 34 under a striking gold chandelier that reflects the topography of the Epernay region. The Champagnes served by the bottle – from 75cl to magnum – include exceptional wines from the Moët & Chandon Legacy Champagne Grand Vintage and from the Legacy Champagne Rare Limited Edition Bottle Collections – including a 1959 Grand Vintage Magnum worth €4,400, but the more accessible Brut Imperial NV (€19) is also on the menu.

You can also taste fantastic champagne cocktails and choose from a number of bizarrely tasty bites. How about stone oysters with a topping of pear, cucumber and Oscietra caviar or a vegan ‘faux gras’ with rhubarb and ginger served with bread. And completely addictive: the creamy Moët Caramel. This is a Moët & Chandon dark chocolate bottle filled with 66% dark chocolate mousse & salted caramel, served on a crunchy biscuit.

Are you a real foodie? That’s good, because this bar has thought of that too. Gourmets will not be disappointed with a range of delicious sweet and savory dishes. From the signature ‘Choux Love’ – dish of the house – a dessert of puffs filled with mango and passion fruit (each branded with Moët’s letters) – to the ‘Cheese Délice’ – a burrata stracciatella with spicy kimchi on toast of black sesame.

Come into the beautiful worlds of Moët & Chandon, and Harrods.

Moët & Chandon Imperial celebrated this year its 150th anniversary

Moët-Chandon-Imperial-Celebrate-150th-Anniversary

Moët & Chandon organized several festivities, including a wonderful evening on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, to celebrate an important milestone in the history of its most iconic and best-selling champagne in the world and specially designed a logo for the occasion visible on Limited Editions.

For the end of year celebrations and in order to finish the year 2019, Moët & Chandon offers limited editions and several activities in Switzerland.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Moët Impérial, born in 1869, Moët & Chandon unveiled its new bottle with a redesigned logo. The ‘I’ of Imperial pays homage to the 150 years of history of this champagne and becomes the new symbol of Moët Impérial at the end of the year.

Indeed, the Maison has maintained close ties with Napoleon Bonaparte, who became a close friend of the champagne house, and it is in his tribute that Moët & Chandon created Moët Impérial with the intention of assembling a champagne that is up to of this link ‘Imperial’.

To crown the 150 years of history of this exceptional champagne, the ‘I’ represents this historic link that must be celebrated according to the style that is the hallmark of the French Maison. Come into the world of Moët & Chandon.

At the Ritz-Carlton in Florida, you get your champagne from a vending machine

Remember those old vending machines in a motel in a dark hallway? Most hotels around the world usually have a vending machine in the hallway. 99% of those vending machines we’ve all seen, are filled with soft drinks and others with snacks in them. Not that special. At the Ritz-Carlton in Florida they think differently about that and they like to have a quality machine. The result: a vending machine filled with Moët & Chandon champagne.

The Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida, recently reopened after a two-year renovation following massive water damage from Hurricane Irma (2017). Now we know from the Ritz-Carlton that they are focused on maintaining every detail at a certain level, but this adjustment after the reopening was not for everyone to see. In the lobby, set amongst columns of hydrangea bouquets, is the holy grail of vending machines: a gold-rimmed 1,000-plus-pound Moët & Chandon dispenser filled with Imperial Brut and Imperial Rosé vintages in 200ml bottles (which measures out to just a little more than a single pour).

Two types of Moët & Chandon can be found in the machine: Imperial Brut and Imperial Rose. Both varieties are closely watched by a sommelier who makes sure the bottles maintain their ideal temperature, and a special mechanism inside ensures a soft landing for each bottle so you get that perfect ‘cork pop’ without spilling. Another cool touch: Guests must purchase special gold coins at the hotel reception for $25 each (ID required) to redeem at the vending machine.

It’s a welcome addition to the standard lobby experience, but with any luck it might also be a trend we’ll be seeing more of in hotels around the world. The legend of the modern bubbly dispenser began in 2013 at the Selfridges department store in London. Introduced by Moët & Chandon for the holiday season, it held 320 mini-bottles of Champagne. A few years later, it turned up at London’s All Bar One in Leicester Square; then, in 2016, the trend made its way Stateside to the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, which added one of the machines to an unassuming corner of its own lobby (the hotel, which was known for all kinds of cool amenities, has since been reflagged as a Waldorf Astoria).

Moët & Chandon pays tribute to Madame de Pompadour with a Rosé Impérial Capsule Collection

With the limited edition Rosé Impérial 2018, Moët & Chandon pays tribute to Madame de Pompadour in an unconventional and contemporary way. She was the 18th century ‘IT girl’ who proclaimed the success of Moët & Chandon to the French royal court. This daring limited edition bottle offers an unparalleled insight to relive the times of this extravagant era, reinterpreting its customs and appearance with contemporary style.

The history of Moët & Chandon is closely linked to the influence of Madame de Pompadour. As King Louis XV’s most valued confidante, she was one of the French champagne house’s first connoisseurs and regulars, introducing the brand to the influential royal entourage. According to legend, she once confessed… “Champagne is the only wine that keeps women beautiful after drinking”.

Moët & Chandon Rose Impérial 2018 Capsule is an ode to Madame de Pompadour, to honor her as the world’s first ‘influencer’. She had impeccable taste in art, literature, interior design and, most importantly, style. One of the first established clients and connoisseurs of the French champagne house, she used her influence and stepped up to the French royal court to explain the success of Moët & Chandon.

The best woman has also played a key role in creating the contemporary image of Paris – as a city of fashion, love and freedom. It was therefore only fitting that the champagne brand paid tribute to Madame de Pompadour this year with a limited edition Rosé Impérial Capsule collection.

This limited edition aims to bring the character and drive of Madame de Pompadour to life. The bottle alone exudes elegance, bravado and daring. The design should remind you of a beautiful, colorful royal masked ball. You’ll see some very special outfits: a peacock-clad woman, a cabaret-style girl and finally a seductive gentleman in a rock ‘n’ roll look. The characters reflect the mix of cultures that passed by from the 18th century.

The fully bloomed roses in the bottle represent the floral nuances of rose in the Rosé Impérial. The champagne itself is not a sweet mess, as you might expect from a rosé champagne, but a full taste of ripe mulberries, slightly sweeter herbs and a tad sour to finish it off. Perfect as an aperitif, but can also be served with chicken, fish or shellfish. And for the real fans: this champagne should not be missing for breakfast either!

Rosé Impérial is the most extroverted and glamourous expression of the Moët & Chandon style. It is a Champagne with a radiant color, intense fruitiness and a seductive palate. The elegant floral notes of rose inspired the design of the playful catwalk of roses in the bottle design.Madame de Pompadour

The Rosé Capsule Collection is the most outgoing and glamorous champagne from the Moët & Chandon collection. For the connoisseurs among us or for those who want a show-off moment at a restaurant: the grapes used are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier.

Moët & Chandon Rosé Imperial Limited Edition is available in the regular format (750ml) and in a stylish Moët mini (20cl) at the better specialist shops, for prices of €59.95 and €17.95 respectively. It’s the perfect bottle of champagne for Valentine’s Day, or just to give your loved one a stylish gift.

The Moët & Chandon Rose Imperial 2018 Capsule Collection will be available from February. Come into the world of  Moët & Chandon.
