Kim Jones made his Haute Couture debut for Fendi on January 27 at the Palais Brongniart in Paris. Named Artistic Director of Women’s collections of the Roman house last September, the British designer is also head of Dior Men. Inspired by the writings of Virginia Woolf and timeless Italian codes, Kim Jones proposes a romantic vision of the Fendi woman.

The only surviving recording of writer Virginia Woolf is from a 1937 BBC radio broadcast series called ‘Words Fail Me’. Kim Jones chose her mysterious voice to open his first haute couture show for Fendi, setting the tone for the collection: “Words, English words, are full of echoes, of memories, of associations – naturally. They have been out and about, on people’s lips, in their houses, in the streets, in the fields, for so many centuries”.

Words infuse the collection, from love letters written by Virginia Woolf to her lover Vita Sackville-West, to her novel ‘Orlando’, inscribed on mother of pearl minaudières or leather boots. The set for the show also referenced the author in a glass labyrinth decorated with bookcases to create intimate ‘rooms of their own’.

For his first haute couture show, Kim Jones surrounded himself with longtime friends including Demi Moore, Kate Moss and her daughter Lila, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Cara Delevingne. They took to the runway alongside androgynous models with carmine lips wearing long flowing capes to the sound of Max Richter’s soundtrack.

Fendi represents artisanal quality of the highest order, and it is all about family. It is in its third generation with a Fendi at its helm, and I am guest starring while bringing in the fourth.

In addition to literature, Kim Jones also found inspiration in the murals painted by Virginia Woolf’s sister Vanessa Bell at Charlheston Farmhouse, the regular meeting place of the Bloomsbury group to which they belonged. Her decorative motifs are embroidered on gowns. Another key theme of the collection is marble, mirrored on an imperial gown worn by Naomi Campbell. The marble palette is a tribute to the Galleria Borghese in Italy, a country adored by the Bloomsbury group, and above all the native land of the Fendi family.

The history of Fendi provided a final and equally central inspiration for Kim Jones’ maiden haute couture collection. He paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, who shared his love of literature and was his predecessor at Fendi for over 50 years. The final Fendi monograms designed by Karl are beaded onto boots. The history of Fendi is that of the family that founded the Maison in 1925. Silvia Venturini Fendi is today Artistic Director for menswear and accessories, while jewelry designer Delfina Delettrez Fendi also walked the runway. As Kim Jones noted, “Fendi represents artisanal quality of the highest order, and it is all about family. It is in its third generation with a Fendi at its helm, and I am guest starring while bringing in the fourth”.

Despite her illustrious career with countless catwalks and campaigns under her belt, legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell has never fronted a beauty campaign. Until now, that is.

Naomi is a living icon and brings such strong personality to the camera. She and I are like family. I have known her since the very beginning of her career. From the start, I have admired her, her beauty, and her style.

It’s rather mind-boggling that at 48, Campbell is still experiencing ‘firsts’ in her illustrious career. Of course, she is one of the original supermodels who rose to international superstardom in the ’80s and ’90s. And she’s been breaking barriers ever since. In 1988, she was the first black woman to appear on the cover of French Vogue, and in 1989, she was the first black model to grace American Vogue’s coveted September issue. And now it has been revealed that Naomi has landed her first-ever beauty campaign with NARS, appearing as the face of its Spring 2019 campaign.


With her first campaign image (above), shot by Mr Nars and with make-up by James Kaliardos, Campbell will front the Radiance Repowered range from January 2019. The campaign will include foundation shade extensions, a new Skin Deep Eye Palette and the Super Radiant Booster.

For the winter holiday season, Tiffany & Co Eau de Parfum comes in new holiday packaging. The fresh and elegant musky fragrance of iris retains the original composition, created by perfumer Daniela Andrier from the house of Givaudan. The composition contains notes of vert de mandarin, precious iris, musk and patchouli.


Created to evoke the scent of diamonds, bare skin, and a sense of timeless elegance, this sparkling floral musk fragrance manages to be in turn eminently sophisticated yet modern & even slightly whimsical.

The scent opens with vibrant top notes of vert de mandarine. At the heart, a precious iris flower is the hero ingredient. Tiffany’s association with the iris dates back to the earliest sketches found in the Tiffany Archives and is deeply entwined in the DNA of the house. It was an iris brooch set with demantoid garnet blossoms and Montana sapphires that earned Tiffany the grand prize at the Paris Exposition in 1900. Harvested in France during the months of July and August, the iris butter is obtained through a unique hydrodistillation extraction, exclusive to the Tiffany fragrance, ensuring a pure, bright, sensual and long-lasting richness to the final note. This signature ingredient adds strength, femininity and grounds the composition with refinement and sophistication. Patchouli base notes wrapped in a blend of soothing musks is sensual on the skin.


This holiday season, Tiffany & Co. introduced the latest chapter of its ‘Believe in Dreams’ campaign, which takes viewers behind the scenes of a Tiffany workshop where surprising and surreal moments unfold, featuring a star-studded cast of characters, featuring Naomi Campbell, Zoë Kravitz, Maye Musk, Xiao Wen Ju, and Karen Elson.

The campaign film opened at Tiffany & Co.’s iconic Fifth Avenue flagship store, where actress, musician and style icon Zoë Kravitz stars as a Tiffany sales professional working late into the evening. Kravitz is drawn from reality into a Tiffany Blue® dreamscape infused with pops of neon.

The fantastical film set draws inspiration from the accessories and home collections, with life-sized designs adding another layer of surrealism. The film was directed by Mark Romanek, most recently known for creating Beyoncé’st Lemonade and features Boston rock band Aerosmith’s hit Dream On, that was released way back in 1973.


Karen Elson

Now the first time I listened to this track, I thought that’s not Steven Tyler singing. But it turns out these are indeed his vocals as he used to sound in the groups early days. I think this recording sounds more like a classic rock ballad than most of the bands later work, but great in its own way. This Tiffany & Co advert song featured on Aerosmith’s self-titled debut album.

Entrepreneur Renate Tyssen-Henne hands over the management of her ‘SOS Project’, which is involved in animal welfare, to Nicole Brühl. The daughter of actress Heidi Brühl is an ideal cast also finds Gabriele Princess zu Leiningen.

Society Lady and entrepreneur Renate Thyssen-Henne started – 12 years ago – together with her daughter Gabriele Princess zu Leiningen and her husband Ernst Theodor Henne the project ‘Sonnenhof’ in Rottenbuch and the aid organization ‘SOS Projects for Man and Animal e.V.’. It became a real showcase project, for which many stars and celebrities – like Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Kirstin Davis, Dieter Bohlen and many others – are involved and enthusiastic. Now ‘SOS Projects’ gets a new direction: Nicole Brühl, daughter of the actress Heidi Brühl, takes over the management. Renate Thyssen-Henne searched for her successor for almost two years, because she cares deeply about the future of the Sonnenhof and its inhabitants.

All this Nicole Brühl wants to continue and also take care of confiscated puppies from illegal puppy transports and for large and wild animals.

Renate Thyssen-Henne and her daughter will in the future support the new board as honorary presidents and continue to represent the projects. Nicole Brühl can therefore rely on two proven and energetic helpers in her new task.
