François Nars and Erdem Moralioglu revealed a new beauty collaboration that we didn’t know we needed but now definitely cannot live without…
Designer beauty collaborations have got to be one of our favourite things here at Yakymour. Cult beauty brands teaming up with our favourite labels to create insanely beautiful packaging and runway-ready palettes/lipsticks/bronzers never gets old and the latest mash-up of names is one of our favourites yet.
On paper, a makeup range from Erdem Moralioglu makes perfect sense. The Canadian-born, London based designer”s currency is romance as interpreted by cinematic silhouettes, luxe fabrics, and escapist storytelling. And yet, despite the flushed cheeks and fresh skin seen on his runways season after season, Moralioglu has resisted taking the official leap into the business of blush and lipstick. But that all changes this Spring, when Erdem will release his first color collection in partnership with François Nars.
It was really interesting to explore my aesthetic in collaboration with Nars and see how far we could push different elements through colour and product. It was fascinating to develop new pigments and palettes as well as the cosmetics themselves.
Legendary French beauty brand Nars revealed its first collaboration with the British designer overnight at the fashion house’s F/W ’18 show at London Fashion Week. The collection has been in the works for some time and Erdem himself was heavily involved in the creation of products. So much so, the collection features an entirely new product – a lip powder palette – the likes of which has never been produced by Nars before.
Inspired by beautiful flowers (florals are an Erdem signature, after all), the collaboration features a 13-piece capsule collection which includes lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, blushes, a lip powder palette, a highlighting pencil and blotting papers. Lets have a look:
Left to right: Loves Me, Loves Me Not
NARS is famous for its blushes so let’s start with the blushes from this collection. NARS blushes are absolutely stunning – soft, extremely blendable and buildable, anyone can get the perfect flushed cheeks when they use these blushes. The 2 new blush shades, cheekily named Loves Me and Loves Me Not, feature a soft-silky pearlescent finish for a radiant look. Loves Me, a strawberry pink with golden shimmer, for a stronger and more youthful blush. Loves Me Not is a more muted and subtle soft lavender pink for those who want to go for a more neutral look.
Left to right: Bloodflower, Larkspur, Moon Orchid, Carnal Carnation, Voodoo Lily, Wild Flower.
Although they haven’t reached cult beauty standard, we love NARS lipsticks because they are creamy, comfortable and versatile. Inspired by 6 different flowers, the 6 beautiful new shades range from nude and muted to deep and bold, sheer to intense.
Poison Rose Lip Powder Palette
The product that I’m most excited about is the lip powder palette. It includes a creamy nude priming balm for the perfect base to blend the pink and red matte powders with the metalling shimmering rose gold for unique and unexpected looks and effects. We recommend using a balm on your lips (although you can apply the lip powders without as well) to keep them hydrated for luscious lips and colour that will last. Or fill in your lips with a lipliner (try any color), for a more voluptious effect and colour that will last.
Left to right: Fleur Fatale Eyeshadow Palette, Night Garden Eyeshadow Palette
The collection also features 2 six-well palettes of velvety eyeshadows. If you prefer warmer neutrals, the Fleur Fatale eyeshadow palette is definitely the one you should go for. It has a mixture of shimmers and mattes for a soft neutral look. Of course, you can layer the shimmers for a more intense shine on your lids and build the darker colours for a smokey eye. If you’re not afraid for an intense look, the Night Garden eyeshadow palette is the one for you. The shades are more cool-toned, featuring a dark satin forest green, midnight blue and a satin marigold, perfect for a bold look that’s perfect for evening.
White Phox Multi-Use Highlighting Pencil
Finish your eye look with an opalescent lavender highlight in the inner corners with the White Phox multi-use highlighting pencil. Yes, it is a multi-use pencil so swipe and effortlessly blend the product on the high points of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, at the tip of your nose and over your cupids bow for extra radiance.
Left to right: Aqua Glow Cushion Compact, Blotting Papers
For the collection, NARS has also included the Aqua Glow Cushion Compact, giving it a makeover with the limited edition floral packaging. If you ever need to do some touch ups on-the-go, carry along the Aqua Glow Cushion Compact that will give you a radiant and fresh glow, as well as some blotting papers that are carefully placed in beautiful packaging. The blotting papers promise to instantly soften and mattify your makeup
This collection is just to-die-for. Not only are the shades so versatile and bright for summer, the packaging is honestly so beautiful and delicate. If the shades didn’t already win us over, the beautiful Erdem designs definitely did.
The NARS x Erdem Capsule Collection will be available to purchase from April 15 in stores and at narscosmetics.com. No word yet when it will be available on our shores.
