Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Toilette Intense

Born in Beauvais, in northern France, in 1927, Hubert James Taffin de Givenchy left his hometown for Paris at the age of 17 to take an apprenticeship at a couture house. He began at Jacques Fath while also studying drawing at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the French National School of Fine Art. He moved to Robert Piguet in 1946 and, briefly, Lucien Lelong in 1947 before joining Elsa Schiaparelli later the same year. Quickly, he became the Artistic Director of the Schiaparelli boutique the Place Vendôme.

In 1952, Givenchy founded his namesake house on Rue Alfred de Vigny in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. For his first collection, he presented “Separates”, looks composed of elegant blouses and breezy skirts that blended architectural lines with the simplicity of the materials. This original point of view marked the resounding debut of a four-decade career at his own house. In the summer of 1953, the couturier met Audrey Hepburn, who borrowed several looks for her film Sabrina. It was the beginning of a long collaboration and profound friendship between the actress and the designer. The same year, in New York, Givenchy met his idol, Cristobal Balenciaga, with whom he became close friends.

In 1957, Audrey Hepburn lent her face to Hubert de Givenchy’s first perfume, L’Interdit, which was dedicated to her. In 1969, the designer created his men’s ready-to-wear line ‘Givenchy Gentleman’. Five yoars later, in 1974 the french designer launched its first men’s fragrance: Givenchy Gentleman.

The now iconic men’s fragrance Givenchy Gentleman received a new, modernized reinterpretation with Gentleman Givenchy in 2017, showing what this fragrance would have looked like if it had been made today.

The now iconic Gentleman Givenchy collection is now expanded with a new Eau de Toilette Intense edition, which redefines seduction with a natural elegance and crystallizes the very essence of a gentleman.

Dolce & Gabbana L’Imperatrice Limited Edition

Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana will launch the new limited edition L’Imperatrice, a variant of the popular perfume originally introduced in 2009 as D&G L’Imperatrice 3 as part of the Antology Collection, which had a total of 9 fragrances named after tarot cards. Currently, this is the only remaining fragrance of this collection, and in the meantime it has lost the ‘D&G’ and ‘3’ labels from its name and is available as simply Dolce & Gabbana L’Imperatrice.

L’Imperatrice Limited Edition, like the original, is composed by perfumer Nathalie Lorson. The new edition retains the main elements of the original composition such as watermelon and cyclamen, with added floral accents of Damask rose and pink peony that replace the jasmine. The base contains additional undertones of smoky woods, with classic notes of sandalwood and musk. The fragrance belongs to the category of floral-fruity perfumes.

The flacon retains its refined, straight silhouette with the minimalist black cap, but takes on a darker and stronger pink shade. It is housed in a simple pink box, instead of the white one.

Fashion house Viktor & Rolf, which specialises in creating conceptual and avant-garde designs, was founded in 1993 by Dutch designers Viktor Horsting (born 1969, Geldrop) and Rolf Snoeren (born 1969, Dongen). For more than twenty years Viktor & Rolf have sought to challenge preconceptions of fashion, and bridge the divide between fashion and art. Viktor & Rolf have designed both haute couture ad ready-to-wear collections. The duo is renowned for their avant-garde designs, which rely heavily on theatrical and performative fashion runways. After their graduation in at the famous Arnhem Academy of Art and Design, the pair began working together and relocated to Paris.

Initial collections established the extravagant silhouettes, witty use of materials and irreverent concepts the designers would come to be known for. In 2000, Viktor & Rolf launched their company logo of a wax seal bearing the monogram V&R, and began to devote their artistic talent to ready-to-wear collections. In 2003, the designers launched a Menswear collection which co-existed alongside the women’s line until 2009. In 2015, the designers halted the ready-to-wear production and returned once more to haute couture citing that they wanted to ‘explore the limits of wearability, function and form’. Additionally, like evey respected couture house Viktor & Rolf created some beautiful perfumes: like the female fragrance Flowerbomb (2004) and the male fragrance Antidote (2006), and Spicebomb (launched in 2012), and their flankers.
