American fashion house Calvin Klein presents two new Euphoria perfumes that will nicely surprise its wearers due to a pleasant, soft, calm and spicy/floral aroma. Euphoria Amber Gold shows up as new flankers to the original Calvin Klein Euphoria launched from 2005, and Euphoria for Men from 2006. The fragrances follow the oriental editions such as Euphoria Gold (2014), Euphoria Liquid Gold (2014) and Euphoria Pure Gold.

The new pair of fragrances are more than intoxicating, they are more luxurious, modern and stylish. They are described by the fashion house as an ‘intoxicating revelation of sensual desire’. These fragrances as if describe warm Arabian nights composed of precious amber notes. Both fragrances will quickly impress wearers due to more stylish and luxurious scents sealed in attractive gold bottles. 

Calvin Klein Euphoria Amber Gold

Created by Paul Gaurin, Calvin Klein Euphoria Amber Gold opens with fresh fruity notes of plum, mandarin along with floral notes of roses, orange flower, and iris. The base calms with sweet vanilla, sandalwood along with precious amber and labdanum. This sweet/woody balsamic fragrance will be a nice new summer hit.

Created by Laurent Le Guernec, Calvin Klein Euphoria Amber Gold for Men is a modern fragrance with an exotic twist when compared to the Original, adding to it a distinct richness and mystery. It contains a dark leather accord, incence and vetiver mixed with green and spicy aromas.

Woman in Gold By Kilian

Kilian Hennessy celebrates ten years of existence of his perfume brand By Kilian and presents a new collection called From Dusk till Dawn, inspired by gold and paying hommage to the Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt.

The idea was to play on the contrasts between shadow and light, to express that we are all made of good and bad – but within light and dark there are a myriad of facets. I wanted to achieve this duality with perfume.

Created by Pascal Gaurin, Gold Knight found it’s inspiration in Gustav Klimt’s Golden Knight painting from 1903. The composition is based on the contrast between freshness and warmth, with honey and anise underlined by bergamot, patchouli and vanilla.

Woman in Gold opens with a perfectly balanced fresh bergamot notes mixed with floral accords of roses and vanilla absolute. The base delights with a pleasant aroma made of patchouli and akigalawood notes. The scent was inspired by the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer, also known as the ‘Austrian Mona Lisa’ or ‘Golden Aldele’.

The Art Nouveau luxurious perfume cases decorated in gold also evoke Klimt’s works and were inspired by the beautiful Byzantine mosaics the Viennese painter saw at the Basilica of Santa Vitale in Ravenna.

The Nose: Pascal Gaurin

Pascal Gaurin was born circa 1970 in France. This French Perfumer works for IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) as Senior Perfumer for the Fine Fragrances division (Click photo to enlarge).

Pascal had no objective reasons to become a perfumer, but chose it thanks to his gift. His fascination with scents was so great that as a child, he literally explored the world with his nose, causing his mother to wonder if he was afraid of being poisoned.

Pascal studied and graduated at ISIPCA in Versailles and a year after that he began to work in IFF, first in Hong Kong, where he enriched not only his olfactory palette, but also gained a deep understanding of the art, customs and olfactory preferences of people in Asia. Then, in 1997, Pascal was offered the chance to work in IFF, New York, the city of his dreams. The city where everything happens, and where all smells come together.

Most inspired by very dense essences, Pascal Gaurin is fond of resins, deep woods and anything that can express extreme sensuality. His taste for darkness probably originates from his grandparents’ home in Creuse, France. ‘The forests are very dark there, it always feels like it’s night time, you can feel the vapors of humus, mushrooms, leaves and bark. . . I love frontal materials, those you need to tame like sculptor does stone, by keeping the volume but making it flow’. This is where he gets his affinity for cistus, patchouli, Cashmeran and vanilla, ingredients he qualifies as erotic.”
