United Airlines Inducted as Stonewall Ambassador in Recognition of Ongoing Commitment to LGBTQ+ Community

Today, United Airlines became the first public company to be inducted into Pride Live’s Stonewall Ambassador program in recognition of the airline’s commitment to LGBTQ+ equality, from being the first U.S. airline to fully recognize domestic partnerships in 1999 to the first U.S. airline to offer non-binary gender options throughout all booking channels earlier this year. The honor took place at Pride Live’s Stonewall Day, a celebration for the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots which also included a live outdoor concert produced byiHeartMedia New York.

United joins fellow Stonewall Ambassadors including new inductees: The Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton; Donatella Versace, Chief Artistic Director of Versace; Bozoma Saint John, Chief Marketing Officer of William Morris Endeavor; Conchita Wurst, global LGBTQ+ activist and recording artist and Stuart Vevers, Executive Creative Director of Coach, Samira Wiley, activist and actor and current members such as Chelsea Clinton, Laverne Cox, Robbie Rogers, Anna Wintour, Geena Rocero and Cleve Jones, among others.

Ralph Lauren Celebrates Pride Month With Rainbow Flag-Adorned Capsule Collection

Ralph Lauren has released a Pride month capsule collection globally on Tuesday (May 21) featuring a rainbow polo pony.

American fashion house Ralph Lauren is celebrating the LGBTQ+ community with a Pride month capsule this season. The heritage label has reworked staples such as a polo shirt, T-shirt, hooded sweatshirt, cap and a tote bag with a rainbow flag-colored pony logo. The ‘Pride’ collection is unisex and features both adult and children sizes, which are all customizable in true Ralph Lauren fashion.

This Pride month is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots of 1969, and the collection will raise money for the Stonewall Community Foundation, which supports a network of LGBT+ organisations. The fashion house will be donating 100% of the profits from the T-shirt and 50% from the four other pieces.

Ralph Lauren has a history of supporting the LGBT+ community. The brand has sponsored AIDS Walk New York since 1990 and has also partnered with organisations like the Elton John AIDS Foundation, amfAR, and Harvey Milk High School in New York. The brand featured a same-sex couple in an advert for the first time in March 2019.

The collection’s lookbook was shot by the American lesbian photographer Cass Bird, who is known for her editorials which challenge and explore societal norms on the ideals of femininity, masculinity and beauty.
