In case you missed it, spring is well and truly here! The excitement for the season ahead is somewhat short-lived thanks to the soaring temperatures in the lead-up to summer, however Haute Joaillier Van Cleef & Arpels has given us a reason — well, nine actually — to embrace the now.
For the French Maison, known for its precious and one-of-a-kind high jewelry, the Frivole collection’s new pieces uphold Van Cleef & Arpels’ unwavering dedication to superb craftsmanship and finest quality gemstones and are intended for day and evening wear.
Expanding its Frivole portfolio, Van Cleef & Arpels has just released nine new pieces that celebrate the coming of spring. A flower motif unites the new additions each of which possesses its own unique detailing.
This season, three miniature flower motifs are brought together to create one gorgeous focal point on a necklace and earrings, whilst signature Frivole mini model pieces are laden with light-diffusing diamonds for extra impact and ultra high shine.
What’s significant about this year’s Frivole line is the introduction of a new motif: A dainty cluster of three small flowers with heart-shaped petals. A tiny diamond, fringed with gold, adorns the centre of each flower. Unabashedly feminine and demure, this new motif has been translated into a pendant and earrings.
Another highlight of the collection is a new, transformable pendant that can pull double-duty as a clip. It features three petals, which, like the rest of the range, have been meticulously mirror-polished to achieve maximum shine when they reflect light. The pendant also showcases a trio of diamonds nestled at the heart of these gleaming petals. This same three-petal silhouette can be found in a matching ring bedecked with a single diamond.
Van Cleef & Arpels’ new Frivole additions also include blinged up renditions of existing jewels in the collection – specifically the mini model pendant, earrings and bracelet that were launched last year.
Diamonds in colours ranging from D to F, with a clarity of either IF (Internally Flawless) or VVS (Very Very Slight Inclusions), have been festooned all over these pieces for an ultra luxurious touch. Paired with the jewels’ openwork details – an iconic Frivole feature that allows more light to pass through them – they look absolutely stunning.
One of Van Cleef & Arpels’ key sources of inspiration, nature endows its creations with poetry and vitality. From the diamond clips of the 1920s to contemporary jewelry pieces, oral motifs have always been at the heart of Van Cleef & Arpels’ creativity. Enthralled by the constant metamorphoses of ora, the Maison transposes its myriad nuances and forms, crystallizing the lightness of clover or a peony’s generous bloom.
In an eternal and bejeweled spring, poppies join daisies, sprigs of lily-of-the-valley and cherry blossom, all transformed into Jewels at the workshops in Place Vendôme. Enriching Van Cleef & Arpels’ poetic garden, the Frivole collection perpetuates a creative tradition dedicated to beauty.
The new Frivole collection will officially launch on 21 March 2018.
