Werner Baldessarini, formerly chief designer for Hugo Boss and founded the Baldessarini fashion label in 1993 has launched Cool Force, a new woody aromatic fragrance for men.

Baldessarini Cool Force is created for the modern men whose unique character is an inspiration to others. They are fully in command of their luxurious, forward-looking lives, and they always meet the challenges of our times. The fragrances by Baldessarini embody uncompromising elegance and have a strong character. They are all united by a distinctive fragrance signature with an unmistakable patchouli note. Nothing describes the essence of the brand better than the singular claim ‘Separates the men from the boys’.

The fragrance was developed by perfumer Vincent Schaller. Top notes of the composition blend rosewood with bergamot, cardamom and myrtle, adding central notes of neroli, aquatic chords, sandalwood and musk. Aromatic opening makes the composition revitalizing, dynamic and very elegant, while woody notes provide an impression of tranquility and strength.

I imagined the fragrance to be fresh and watery. Natural aromatic ingredients such as clary sage, cardamom and the marine water accord calone distinguish this special freshness. I also wanted Cool Force to be masculine, sensual and warm, since it is a Baldessarini fragrance. For this, I used precious woods such as cedarwood, sandalwood and rosewood, combined with aromatic sweet myrtle. Just as an elegant suit completes a man’s outfit, musk, patchouli and Sicilian bergamot add a certain something to Cool Force and complete the fragrance.

Baldessarini Cool Force is availble as a 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette accompanied with an after shave lotion 90 ml, shower gel 200ml and stick deodorant 75 gr. It arrives in a bottle of frosted glass and a box which is decorated with a rough concrete texture.

Italian jewelry and luxury accessoiries house Bulgari has released the third and latest addition to its Aqva Pour Homme line. Inaugurated in 2005, the Aqva Pour Homme line has previously featured two popular fragrances by renowned perfumer Jacques Cavallier. This February, the Aqva Pour Homme Atlantiqve takes the Aqva Pour Homme line to the next level by imbuing the Atlantic Ocean into the fragrance stored in the famous signature pebble-shaped bottle.

It is a known fact that water covers nearly three-quarters of the Earth’s surface. The Aqua Pour Homme line, including this latest product, continues to attest to Bulgari’s dedication to developing products of substance, depth and relevance to modern man. In order to embody the character of the Aqva Pour Homme Atlantiqve man, Cavallier brings together and juxtaposes two accords — ‘Sea Amber’ and ‘Ocean Energy’. ‘Sea Amber’ draws from the molecular construct of the ambergris or grey amber, an organic treasure from the ocean, while incorporating the subtle, layered character of balms and woods such as sandalwood, vetiver roots and benzoin resin. ‘Ocean Energy’, true to its name, crosses a powerful aqueous note along with the gentle top notes of Sicilian lemon and Italian bergamot. The Eau de Toilette celebrates the ocean as a force of strength, a record of history, and a symbol of life and its constant flux.

Bulgari’s beautiful but simple design for the flacon of the fragrance recounts the shape of a stone or pebble by the seashore. These naturally produced fragments of the earth bring to mind both individual uniqueness and a connection with the macrocosm of nature. The sleek surface of the bottle recounts the seashore, while its body’s translucent deep blue colour suggest the apparent infinite depth of ocean waters when viewed from its surface, and the incessant beating of the waves on the shore.

Predecessors of the fragrance drew on other distinctive characteristics of the ocean as muse. The first fragrance in the line, the Aqva Pour Homme, released in 2005, spoke of the sense of emancipation and the uncovering of mysteries, evoked by delving into the depths of the ocean. Unveiled three years later, the Aqva Pour Homme Marine relayed the profundity of the sea even in its calmness, recalling sea breezes and the gentle disruption of ripples on the water’s surface….

It has the balance between the different facets of this ingredient, a symbol of wealth and rank in Oriental countries where it has been used it for millennia. A product that is more expensive than gold, which is one of the most beautiful and loved natural notes in the world. For ‘Onekh’, Jacques Cavallier has used a sublime natural Oud: leathery and spicy wood, with notes of saffron and honey. In search of a powerful naturalness, an icy and nurturing green freshness, the fragrance resonates with the properties and the colours of malachite and captures the deep and aromatic greens of the forests of the Ural. The unique character of this creation in which Lavender and Oakmoss reign, with a very rare Bourbon Geranium, is resolutely modern on its base of Musk. The Royalé Dream A Scents One-Of-A-Kind Objet d’Art

If you want to know the scent of a diamond, check out this collaboration fragrance from luxury perfume company Cuarzo The Circle and Diamond Corporation ‘World of Diamonds’. The limited-edition collection’s three variants fragrances — Earth, Celestial, and Enlightenment – were unveiled at the Grand Prix at Amber Lounge in September 2015.

When Karan Tilani, the director of World Of Diamonds, first heard about luxury fragrance company Cuarzo The Circle, he knew they simply had to collaborate. The result? The Royalé Dream, the world’s most expensive perfume collection to date that debuted during the Singapore Grand Prix at Amber Lounge in September this year.

The scent, created by Spanish master perfumer Ramón Béjar, each was infused with gems or precious metals, comprises three fragrances encased in La Corona (The Crown), a platinum-plated ostrich egg with a luxe lambskin leather interior. Inspired by famous Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé, the fragrances — Earth, Celestial, and Enlightenment, come with an 0.85-carat vivid blue diamond ring designed by World Of Diamonds.

  • Earth – This masculine scent is infused with 10 colorless diamonds of about 0.5 carats, mixed with pure Oud oil, the most expensive oil in the world that comes from agar wood.
  • Celestial – This feminine scent is infused with six pinkish diamonds of about 0.2 carats, mixed with scents of water lily, peach, violet, jasmine and lotus.
  • Enlightenment – This unisex fragrance is infused with 24k gold flakes, combined with scents of musk, rose and ebony wood.

Ultimately, the collection proved irresistible to a Singaporean entrepreneur, who bought it not long after the piece was showcased. It may sound like an extravagant purchase, but it’s not every day one gets to live a royal dream, after all.

Oh, Boy: Chanel launches new fragrance

Fashion designer, Coco Chanel is well known around the world for her fabulous fashion line worn by all the A-list celebrities. What many people don’t realise is, Coco (who’s real name is Gabrielle) was raised in an orphanage which is where she was taught her sewing skills.

After having a brief career as a singer she became friends with, Étienne Balsan and stayed with him just outside of Paris where she lived as a ‘kept woman’ in his mansion, and this is where she began to mingle with Balsans wealthy companions and this is when she met a man who would change her life forever, Arthur ‘Boy’ Capel.

Captain Arthur Edward ‘Boy’ Capel (1881 – 22 December 1919) was an English poloplayer, possibly best remembered for being a lover and muse of fashion designer Coco Chanel.

Born in Brighton, Sussex, Arthur Capel was a ship-owner, politician, tycoon and polo player . He was the son of Arthur Joseph Capel, a British shipping merchant, and his French-born wife, the former Berthe Andrée A. E. Lorin (1856-1902), and he had three sisters. But today he is better known for his 9 year love affair with Coco Chanel.

His affair with Chanel apparently began in 1909, when he became acquainted with the then 26 year old mistress of his friend Étienne Balsan. In that time he was already an apparently wealthy self-made man and he supplied Chanel with financial backing, and financed Chanel’s first shops. His own clothing style, notably his blazers, inspired her to put a squared masculine touch on her classic clothing styles, and creation the Chanel look. If it wasn’t for Arthur’s money or style then Chanel would never had had the funds or fashion muse to make what is one of the most well-known designer brands in the world.

The couple spent much time together at fashionable resorts such as Deauville, but.. he was never faithful to Chanel. Their relationship lasted nine years, and even after Capel married in 1918, he continued his affair with Chanel until his death in late 1919.

Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, Étienne Balsan and Arthur Edward ‘Boy‘ Capel

Arthur tragically died in a car crash on Monday 22 December 1919, allegedly en route to a Christmas rendez-vous with Chanel. A roadside memorial was placed at the site of the accident, consisting of a cross bearing the inscription:

A la mémoire du capitaine Arthur Capel, Légion d’Honneur de l’Armée Britannique, mort accidentellement en cet endroit le 22 décembre 1919

He was buried with full military honours at Fréjus Cathedral, in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France, on 24 December 1919. After his death Coco began wearing black during her grieving process and she told a friend that the world would mourn with her which is where the ‘little black dress’ evolved from, and why black is no longer tied in hand with association with death but more with elegance and class. Chanel claimed Arthur Edward ‘Boy‘ Capel was the love of her life.

An exceptional Fresh Aromatic fragrance infused with the timeless elegance

We were so busy waiting for Chanel’s reinterpretation of their No. 5 fragrance titled L’Eau (slated for a fall release) that we didn’t see this one coming at all! The new scent from Chanel is a unisex fragrance created by the house’s master perfumer Olivier Polge. It also becomes the latest (17th) addition to the Les Exclusifs collection and just like Misia (also an Olivier Polge creation), it was inspired by one of Chanel’s closest friends: Arthur ‘Boy’ Capel.  Gabrielle Chanel considered him as more than her soul mate; he was her double and her alter ego. Inspired by their love, Boy Chanel is a vibrant, perfectly balanced scent that challenges tradition and transcends gender.

My way of working on this fragrance was really not to try to make a unisex fragrance but really more to dive into men’s fragrance…and to show how well it could be worn by a woman. So it was not to try to create an in-between fragrance, but a very masculine fragrance. And — like many other things in life — gender is given by the person wearing it.

Olivier Polge

Boy is a masculine fougère with main accords of lavender and rose geranium sourced from the south of France. The composition also includes lemon and grapefruit, a note of rose, orange blossom, sandalwood and heliotropin, plus a hint of vanilla and musk accords. Like the others in the Les Exclusifs collection, it is contained in a simple rectangular bottle, and will become available worldwide this month in in two sizes, 75 and 200 ml Eau de Toilette.
